Fuenlabrada's Childhood and Adolescence Participation Council will participate in two state initiatives funded by the Ministry of Childhood, focusing on digital rights and the active participation of minors.
The Childhood and Adolescence Participation Council of Fuenlabrada will be part of two nationally driven projects by the Ministry of Childhood, aimed at promoting the rights of minors and encouraging their involvement in public life.
The initiatives are developed within the framework of collaboration between the Fuenlabrada City Council, through the Department of Childhood and Youth, and the Childhood Platform, a network of entities dedicated to defending children's rights such as UNICEF, Save the Children, and ONCE.
The first of the projects is Cibercorresponsales, an experience that has already been carried out in the city and allows children in Fuenlabrada to reflect on their rights in the digital environment. Through this initiative, participants share experiences and generate content with the support of a network of young journalists who promote digital literacy and safe internet use.
The second project is a new initiative in Fuenlabrada and focuses on ensuring that children and adolescents know their rights and participate directly in dialogue and decision-making spaces. This new proposal aims to strengthen the role of minors as active agents in shaping the policies that affect them.
The Councillor for Childhood and Youth, Javier González, has highlighted that with these initiatives, “Fuenlabrada continues to advance as a city committed to childhood and adolescence, reinforcing the role of the Participation Council as a space for listening, dialogue, and collective construction of the city.”
Both projects are funded by the Ministry of Childhood and are part of the collaboration that the City Council maintains with the Childhood Platform, an organization that brings together entities dedicated to the defense and protection of minors.
Participation in these programs represents another step in Fuenlabrada's journey as a city committed to children's rights, as the Participation Council has been functioning for years as a consultative and proposal body on municipal matters affecting the youngest.
