The Colmenar Viejo Town Hall is carrying out improvement works this summer in five public educational centres with a total investment of €609,502.18. The works include flooring renewal, window replacement, and accessibility improvements.
The Colmenar Viejo Town Hall has launched a package of improvement works this summer in five public educational centres in the municipality, with a total budget of €609,502.18. The works are being carried out during the non-school period to avoid interfering with school activities.
The works are distributed among two nursery schools, two primary and infant education schools, and one special education centre. The Councillor for Education, Lorena Colmenarejo, highlighted that in the last three years, the City Council has allocated nearly two million euros to improve public educational infrastructures.
At the Casita de Niños Nursery School, a complete renewal of the interior doors and flooring throughout the building is underway, with an investment of €94,350.77. The aim is to enhance the safety and comfort of the spaces.
The Los Enebros Nursery School will see the replacement of doors and windows to improve energy efficiency, as well as the construction of a new porch that will expand the areas for students and families. This project amounts to €116,784.59.
At the CEIP Tirso de Molina, the outdoor spaces are being renovated to make them more accessible and functional, with a budget of €143,061.97. Meanwhile, the CEIP Ángel León is receiving an upgrade to its drainage and rainwater evacuation system, valued at €136,907.74, to prevent damage from rainfall.
The CPEE Miguel Hernández, a special education centre, will have its access expanded and adapted for people with reduced mobility, a project aimed at promoting a more inclusive education. The investment in this centre is €118,397.11.
“We firmly believe that investing in our educational centres is investing in the future of Colmenar Viejo,” stated Colmenarejo, who hopes that students will find the renovated centres upon their return from vacation.
In addition to these works, the Town Hall maintains an annual maintenance contract of €375,000 to address any needs that arise during the school year. With this investment, the municipality reinforces its commitment to quality public education in the northern part of the region.
The works are expected to be completed before the start of the next school year, which will begin in September. Parents and students will be able to enjoy more modern, safe, and accessible facilities.
