Mario Cordero (Finisher) has been declared the winner of the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid Sub-23 2026 after maintaining the red leader's jersey in the final time trial held this Saturday in Alcobendas. The cyclist achieved a time of 14:00 over the 8.5-kilometre urban route, enough to keep his lead over the other contenders.

The decisive stage began at 10:00 hours with the departure of the first of the 116 riders still in competition. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Jesús Tortosa, the Sports Councillor of Alcobendas, and Diego Sánchez, president of the Madrid Cycling Federation.

Óscar Vian sets the best time in the Alcobendas time trial

The under-23 Spanish champion, Óscar Vian (Gomur), was the fastest in the time trial. His time of 13:35 could not be surpassed by any of the remaining 115 cyclists. Iván Loaisa (Technosylva Rower Bembibre) finished just three seconds behind with 13:38, while Ander Otegi (BBK Euskadi) clocked 13:45.

Yeray Sastre was the first to post a notable time with 14:20, although his teammate from El Bicho-Plataforma Central Iberum, Víctor García, improved it to 14:19. Shortly after, Otegi took the provisional lead with 13:45, and Ben Stokes (Kelly Benefits) was close behind with 13:52. Ekhi Uriarte, also from Kelly Benefits, stopped the clock at 13:57.

Cordero secures final victory in the general classification

Among the contenders for the general classification, Noah Shelton (Kelly Benefits) recorded the best time with 13:47 in his attempt to reach the podium. Danil Kazakov (Technosylva Rower Bembibre) and Luis Alberto Lajarín (Finisher) managed to maintain their positions, while Cordero secured the overall victory with his exact 14 minutes.

Cordero's victory caps off a remarkable performance by Finisher, which also finished as the best team in the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid Sub-23 2026. The podium was completed by Kazakov (second) and Lajarín (third).

For cycling fans in the northern area, the Vuelta a Madrid Sub-23 has become a classic on the calendar. Alcobendas has been the perfect setting to close the event, with a route that demanded both technique and power. Local residents who came to the centre were able to see the promising Spanish cyclists up close.

The next major event on the regional calendar will be the Vuelta a Madrid Élite, which will traverse the mountains in August. In the meantime, young talents like Cordero and Vian are already aiming to make the leap to professionalism.
