The ensemble conducted by Constantino Martínez-Orts will offer a concert at the National Auditorium featuring soundtracks from 'Avatar', 'Interstellar', and 'Gladiator'.
On October 2, the Symphony Hall of the National Auditorium of Music will host Odyssey, the new tour of the Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO), an unmissable event for lovers of cinema and live music.
The group, founded in 2011 by Valencian conductor Constantino Martínez-Orts, proposes an epic journey through the fantastic worlds, lost civilizations, and distant galaxies that have marked the history of the seventh art.
The programme will include some of the most exciting soundtracks in cinema, with titles such as Avatar, Interstellar, Gladiator, The Lord of the Rings, Dragonheart, Out of Africa, and The Goonies, among other surprises.
The FSO boasts more than 80 musicians and a large choir, and is dedicated exclusively to film music, aiming to bring the symphonic repertoire closer to younger audiences through cinema as a common thread.
Martínez-Orts, born in Valencia in 1977, has conducted ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra in the UK and the Sofia Festival Orchestra, and is a professor at the Berklee College of Music in its Valencia campus. He has released five albums dedicated to film music.
“Odyssey is a unique journey through melodies that not only accompanied great stories but also form part of our own,” the concert organisers state.
Tickets are already on sale, and a full house is expected at an auditorium that has become the epicentre of symphonic music in the capital.
For attendees, the concert will begin at 20:00 in the Symphony Hall of the National Auditorium, located at Calle Príncipe de Vergara 146, an easily accessible venue by public transport.
