The National and Municipal Police have dismantled two drug sales points in the San Blas-Canillejas district, seizing 400 grams of Wax, a concentrated cannabis extract with up to 90% THC, valued at 30,000 euros in the illegal market.

Wax, a substance with a wax-like texture and an immediate psychoactive effect, has been at the centre of a police operation that resulted in five arrests and the closure of a venue operating as a fake cannabis consumer association in the San Blas-Canillejas district.

National and Municipal Police agents began their investigations last February upon detecting an intense flow of people in a local establishment in the area. Customers were entering and exiting within minutes, with no official membership records, raising the investigators' suspicions.

After several months of surveillance, the operation culminated in mid-June with the entry and search of the venue and an adjacent residence. Inside, the police seized two kilos of marijuana, one kilo of hashish, and 400 grams of Wax, as well as cash and materials for dosing the substances.

A perfectly structured organization

The fake smoking club had a reception area with a ticket booth where different varieties of marijuana and hashish were stored, and a dispensary. It was precisely inside a fridge in this room that agents located the Wax, a substance that had until now been very uncommon in the Community of Madrid.

The organization had a well-defined division of tasks: some members were responsible for direct sales, while others monitored the exterior and controlled customer access, providing cover as they exited to avoid police presence. The arrested individuals, four men and one woman, are accused of crimes against public health and belonging to a criminal group.

Wax is sold in microns and can reach concentrations of up to 90% THC, making it a potentially dangerous drug for health. In the illicit market, the 400 grams seized would have reached a value of around 30,000 euros.

Gummies and cannabis cosmetics

In addition to Wax, agents seized gummies and cosmetic products allegedly made with cannabis derivatives. These products, which mimicked legal items, could have been marketed to the club's customers, adding an extra risk to consumption, especially among younger people.

The joint operation between the National Police and the Municipal Police of Madrid represents a blow to the trafficking of new psychoactive substances in the capital. Residents of San Blas-Canillejas had reported suspicious activity at the venue several times, which ultimately allowed the authorities to act.

The Madrid City Council has reminded that cannabis smoking clubs must be officially registered and comply with a series of legal requirements. In this case, the venue had no registration, operating completely illegally.

The five detainees have been brought before a judge, and provisional imprisonment has been ordered for three of them. The investigation remains open to determine if there are more individuals involved or if Wax has reached other sales points in the region.

For the residents of San Blas-Canillejas, the operation is a relief. The constant coming and going of people generated insecurity in the area, and the presence of a drug as potent as Wax raised alarms. The police have assured that they will maintain surveillance to prevent such establishments from operating again under the guise of legal associations.
