Madrid's most traditional fair returns from August 13 to 16 with free concerts at Las Vistillas, religious events, and activities for all ages in La Latina.

The La Latina neighbourhood is preparing to experience a new edition of the Fiestas de la Virgen de La Paloma, which this year will be held from Thursday, August 13, to Sunday, August 16. The completely free programme will once again turn the centre of Madrid into the epicentre of traditional festivities, with the main day on August 15, the Feast of the Assumption.

The Jardines de Las Vistillas will once again be the main stage for concerts, featuring a musical line-up that includes Celtas Cortos, Miss Caffeina, DePol, and Karavana, as well as the Orquesta Tucán and the show 'Regreso a los 80'. Plaza de la Paja will host competitions for Manila shawls, chotis, pasodobles, and fans, while Cava Alta and Cava Baja will concentrate stalls and a tapas atmosphere.

The programme extends to Plaza del Humilladero, where there will be food proposals and children's activities, and to Calle de la Paloma and its surroundings, the epicentre of religious events. Among these is the traditional descent of the Virgin's painting, which will be carried out by the Madrid City Fire Brigade on August 15, followed by a procession through the streets of La Latina.

The floral offering and the solemn mass will complete the main day, which is expected to attract a large number of locals and visitors. Neighbourhood associations and traditional groups are collaborating on numerous activities, including children's workshops and DJ sessions for the younger crowd.

Access to all events is free, although the City Council recommends arriving early to find a spot at the main stages. The atmosphere, with lanterns, bunting, and carnations, will be maintained throughout the four days, closing the cycle of August fairs in the capital.
