David Kramer leaves Real Madrid and signs with Red Star

Real Madrid announced on Wednesday the departure of David Kramer, who is heading to Red Star Belgrade after a season with the white team.

The German guard David Kramer will not continue at Real Madrid. The white club has officially confirmed his departure, and Red Star Belgrade has confirmed his signing within minutes. Kramer, 27, joins the Serbian team after a campaign in which he played a secondary role in Sergio Scariolo's team.

Little prominence at Real Madrid

Kramer arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2025 from La Laguna Tenerife, after paying his release clause. However, his performance did not translate into minutes: barely 12:56 per game in the Liga Endesa and 4:52 in the EuroLeague, where he was one of the regular omissions alongside Gabriele Procida and Izán Almansa.

Despite this, his numbers were not bad. In the domestic competition, he averaged 6.7 points with a 41.6% three-point shooting, 1.8 rebounds, and half a steal. His best performance was against Covirán Granada, with 22 points. In Europe, his figures dropped to 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds.

The Madrid club highlighted in its statement that Kramer was a helpful player, effective in outside shooting and defence. The fans at Movistar Arena appreciated his commitment, but Scariolo's lack of confidence weighed on his departure.

Destination: Red Star Belgrade

As soon as his departure was announced, Red Star confirmed his signing until 2028. The Serbian team, which also competes in the EuroLeague, has acquired a reliable shooter for Ibon Navarro's project. "Welcome to the red-and-white family, welcome to the family of Red Star, David!" read the Balkan statement.

For Real Madrid, Kramer's departure is not traumatic, but it leaves a gap on the perimeter. The white club will need to find a replacement if it wants to maintain the squad depth required for the season. For now, the news has been met with surprise in the Madrid environment, which expected more from the German.

The player, for his part, will have the opportunity to prove himself in Belgrade, where he is expected to have more prominence. The fans of Red Star are already dreaming of his three-pointers.
