The Spanish national team's bus turned into a rolling disco on Monday. Among the hundreds of thousands of fans who packed the streets of Madrid, Marc Cucurella and Borja Iglesias stole the spotlight with their musical flair.
The Chelsea defender once again sang the now-iconic 'Cucu Cucurella', the chant that sends shivers down Erling Haaland's spine. With the microphone in hand, he asked the crowd for silence to chant:
“Haaland trembles as Cucurella comes”, while the fans roared as they passed by Cibeles.
Borja Iglesias, the DJ of the Party
The Celta de Vigo forward took to the decks and played the tracks that set the rhythm of the celebration. Borja Iglesias not only mixed songs but also started singing in front of the crowd gathered in Cibeles square.
One of the most emotional moments came when the player dedicated 'Happy Birthday' to Álex Baena, midfielder for Atlético de Madrid, who turned 25 on that very day, July 20. The fans joined in the improvised chorus.
A Celebration with a Madrid Stamp
The parade, which started from the Santiago Bernabéu stadium to Cibeles square, had a distinctly local flavour. Atlético de Madrid was represented by their player Álex Baena, while Cucurella, raised in Barcelona's youth academy, won over the Madrid crowd with his charm.
Fans, dressed in red shirts and waving flags, chanted the names of the world champions. The Spanish national team displayed the trophy from the convertible bus, in a festive atmosphere reminiscent of the Euro 2024 celebration.
What became clear is that this team not only knows how to play football but also how to throw a high-profile party. Cucurella and Borja Iglesias proved that, in addition to being stars on the pitch, they have the makings of artists on the streets of Madrid.
