The Summer Cinema of Torrejón de Ardoz offers two new films this weekend: 'Smurfs' this Friday and 'Jurassic World: The Rebirth' on Saturday. The free screenings start at 22:30 in the Plaza de Toros.

The Plaza de Toros in Torrejón de Ardoz transforms this weekend into an outdoor cinema with two premieres that promise to fill the stands. The programme kicks off this Friday with 'Smurfs', the latest animated adventure of the little blue beings, and continues on Saturday with 'Jurassic World: The Rebirth', the new installment of the dinosaur saga. Both screenings are free and start at 22:30.

The Summer Cinema, organised by the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council, has established itself as one of the must-attend events of the summer in Torrejón. This year's edition includes a total of 18 films that are screened on Fridays and Saturdays in July and August. In July, the showtime is at 22:30, while in August it moves to 22:00.

'Smurfs': rescue in the real world

The session on Friday, July 17, is dedicated to 'Smurfs', a fun adventure in which Papa Smurf is kidnapped by the evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel. To rescue him, Smurfette leads the Smurfs on a mission to the real world, where, with the help of new allies, they must discover what defines their true destiny to save the universe. The film, suitable for all audiences, is ideal for family enjoyment.

According to municipal sources, the choice of this title responds to the demand from families looking for free and quality plans during the holidays.

'We want the residents of Torrejón to enjoy a summer full of culture and leisure without having to leave the city,' said the Torrejón mayor.

'Jurassic World: The Rebirth': the return of the dinosaurs

On Saturday, July 18, 'Jurassic World: The Rebirth' arrives, the new installment of the popular saga. The plot is set five years after 'Jurassic World: Dominion', when the few remaining dinosaurs live in isolated equatorial regions. An expert in undercover operations leads a dangerous mission to obtain the DNA of the planet's largest creatures, whose genetic material could revolutionise medicine. However, the expedition ends up on a forbidden island that hides a disturbing secret.

This screening promises to attract a more adult and youth audience, lovers of action and science fiction. The City Council highlights that all films are screened in their original version with Spanish subtitles, except for children's films which are shown dubbed.

A summer of free cinema in Torrejón

The Summer Cinema is just one of the many free proposals that Torrejón de Ardoz offers during the summer. The programme also includes the Fountain Show at Parque Europa, Special Days at the theme parks, and the municipal swimming pools. The Torrejón mayor reminded that

'with this initiative, the City Council offers its residents a wide range of entertainment options with one of the best free summer cultural and leisure programmes in Spain.'

The upcoming confirmed films are: 'The Wild Robot', 'Superman', 'Sonic 3', 'Mission Impossible: Final Sentence', 'Bad Guys 2', 'Karate Kid: Legends', 'Grand Prix at Full Speed', 'Snow White', 'Elio', 'No Coverage', 'Lilo & Stitch', and 'Mufasa'. All of these will be screened in the Plaza de Toros, a space that hosts concerts and bullfighting events during the winter, but transforms into an outdoor cinema in the summer.

For the residents of Torrejón, this initiative represents a unique opportunity to enjoy cinema without having to travel to other towns or pay for tickets. The sessions start promptly, so it is recommended to arrive early to find a good spot. And if the heat is intense, you can always bring a bottle of water and a light blanket for the night.
