The City Council is preparing a major sports day on Sunday, 19 July, with a giant screen, music, entertainment, and a security detail of 26 Local Police officers.
Plaza de Cervantes in Alcalá de Henares will be the epicentre of local fans this Sunday, 19 July, with the installation of a giant screen next to the Capilla del Oidor to watch the World Cup final live. The City Council has organised a programme that will kick off hours before the match with music, a DJ, and activities for all audiences.
Enhanced Security Measures
To ensure safety, the Department of Security has deployed an operation with 26 Local Police officers, 15 Civil Protection volunteers, a basic life support ambulance, a field hospital, and a Drone Unit to monitor the area. Access will be free until capacity is reached.
Additionally, from this Wednesday, the main fountains in the city have begun to be fenced off to prevent incidents during potential celebrations after the match. The aim is to protect both people and urban heritage.
Urgent Cleaning and Responsible Celebration
The City Council has prepared a special cleaning operation that will take place before and after the event to restore normality as quickly as possible. Specific details will be communicated in the coming days.
The Councillor for Festivals and Popular Traditions, Antonio Saldaña, has encouraged residents to “enjoy and support our team alongside their families and friends, and to relive a historic moment like the one we shared two years ago during the Euro Cup final.”
“Plaza de Cervantes will once again be the stage for a great collective celebration, where sport will once again unite thousands of residents around our team,” Saldaña added.
The City Council invites everyone to arrive early and enjoy the day responsibly. The event is this Sunday, 19 July in Plaza de Cervantes, with free entry until capacity is reached.
