The Arganda del Rey Town Hall has announced the installation of an air conditioning system in the Children's Centre, a service highly demanded by families. The work will begin in the coming weeks.
The Arganda del Rey Town Hall has confirmed that the Children's Centre, a municipal childcare facility, will have a new air conditioning system. This measure responds to a long-standing demand from user families, who have been requesting a solution for high summer temperatures and cold winters for years.
According to municipal sources, the project includes the installation of air conditioning and heating units in all classrooms and common areas of the building. The works, which will be financed with the council's own funds, have an estimated budget of €120,000 and are expected to be completed before the next cold season.
The Children's Centre in Arganda del Rey caters to children aged 0 to 3 years and is a key resource for family reconciliation in the municipality. The lack of air conditioning had led to recurring complaints from families, especially during heatwaves, when indoor temperatures exceeded 30 degrees.
The Councillor for Education, Juan Pérez, has highlighted that this action is a priority for the governing team. "We have been working on this project for months to respond to a real need of families. We want children to be in the best possible conditions," he stated in comments reported by the Town Hall.
The works will begin once the contracts are awarded, presumably at the end of August. During the installation period, the centre will remain open, although alternative areas will be set up to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
The Association of Mothers and Fathers of the Children's Centre has positively assessed the announcement. "We have been asking for this for years. It is finally going to become a reality," said its spokesperson, Marta López. The association has requested that the air conditioning be maintained in good condition and renewed periodically.
With this initiative, Arganda del Rey joins other municipalities in the Community of Madrid that have already improved the conditions of their childcare centres. In recent years, towns such as Rivas-Vaciamadrid and Alcalá de Henares have carried out similar projects.
The Town Hall has reminded that air conditioning will not only improve comfort but will also contribute to better development of educational activities, as extreme temperatures affect children's performance and health.
