The Government Board of Pozuelo de Alarcón approved on Wednesday the awarding of the contract for disseminating institutional campaigns, the same one that the Contracting Committee did not select on June 30 due to considering the offers too low.
The Local Government Board of Pozuelo de Alarcón has given the green light on Wednesday to the awarding of the contract for the dissemination of institutional campaigns and official announcements from the City Council, a file that had been left in limbo after the Contracting Committee decided not to select any offers last June 30.
The contract, with file number 2026/PASA/012, has a duration of five months —from July 1 to November 30, 2026— and does not include the possibility of extension. However, as it was approved on July 29, the effective execution period is reduced to four months, as the first month of the original deadline has already passed.
According to municipal sources, the Contracting Committee rejected all the offers presented at the time as excessively low, which forced the local government to seek an alternative to ensure institutional dissemination during the second half of the year. The City Council has not clarified whether the service has been re-tendered or if a direct award has been made through the so-called 'adjustment hammer', an exceptional procedure that allows for faster minor contracts.
The contract is part of a session of the Government Board that the government team itself has described as 'cleaning the stables', as it is the last meeting before the summer break. In total, eight awards, four extensions, a file for sports equipment, and a modification of the Strategic Grants Plan have been approved.
Among other awards, the supply of a hybrid plug-in double cab pick-up vehicle for the environmental education classroom stands out, valued at several thousand euros, and the contract for organizing the Grand Vizier's parade, the Three Kings' Cavalcade, and the events for the Three Wise Men. The latter has generated controversy in the locality, as the Grand Vizier's parade, promoted by Mayor Paloma Tejero, replaces the traditional Royal Mailman in a celebration with Catholic roots.
The opposition has criticized the opacity of the contracting process and has demanded explanations on how the advertising contract was resolved after the Contracting Committee rejected it. 'Everything is dark in this Government,' said the spokesperson for the municipal socialist group, who announced that they would request the minutes of the Government Board to know the details of the award.
The City Council of Pozuelo de Alarcón has not confirmed whether there will be new sessions of the Government Board during August, following the modification of the regulation approved in April 2024 that left the calling of meetings in the hands of the mayor. Municipal sources indicate that the frequency will depend on Tejero's schedule, who is expected to take a vacation in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the residents of Pozuelo are still waiting for other pending issues to be resolved, such as the modification of the Strategic Grants Plan, which could affect aid to social and cultural entities in the municipality. Today's session has served to clear most of the accumulated files, although the shadow of controversy over the advertising contract threatens to extend throughout the summer.
