The CN Pozuelo has been crowned Absolute Champion of Spain for Clubs in Adaptive Swimming for the fourth consecutive year, scoring 406 points in Castellón. The Madrid team dominated all four relays and secured 15 medals.
The CN Pozuelo has reaffirmed its dominance in national adaptive swimming by winning its fourth consecutive title at the Absolute Championship for Clubs, held this weekend in Castellón. The Pozuelo team accumulated 406 points, well ahead of Club Natación Barcelona (334) and CD Aquatic Campanar (254), in a competition that brought together the best teams in the country.
The key to victory lay in the strength of the group, especially in the relay events, where CN Pozuelo triumphed in all four contested formats: 4×50 styles, 4×100 styles, 4×50 freestyle, and 4×100 freestyle, all in mixed categories. This collective performance allowed the Madrid team to build a decisive lead over their rivals.
In individual events, CN Pozuelo swimmers collected a total of 15 medals: nine gold, two silver, and four bronze. Paralympic swimmer Teresa Perales was one of the standout performers, becoming champion in the 50 meters breaststroke and 50 meters backstroke, and adding a bronze in the 150 meters individual medley. Perales, one of the most decorated athletes in the history of Spanish sport, continues to demonstrate her competitive ability at the age of 48.
Anastasiya Dmytriv also shone with a gold in the 100 meters butterfly and two silvers in the 200 meters individual medley and 100 meters breaststroke. Meanwhile, Catalina Sagastizábal won gold in the 50 meters butterfly and bronze in the 400 meters freestyle. In the men's category, David Sánchez triumphed in the 50 meters butterfly, while Carlos Martínez secured bronze in the 100 meters breaststroke and Júlia Masa did the same in the 200 meters freestyle.
The championship also saw nine national records set by swimmers from the Pozuelo club. Miguel Ángel Navarro established four new records in the 50, 100, and 200 meters freestyle and 150 meters individual medley in the S1 class. Catalina Sagastizábal also broke records in the 50, 100, and 400 meters freestyle in the S6 class, while Teresa Perales improved the marks in the 50 meters backstroke and 50 meters butterfly in the S2 class.
With these results, CN Pozuelo consolidates its position as the reference club in Spanish adaptive swimming and achieves the largest representation of swimmers for the upcoming European Championship, which will take place in the summer of 2026. The continental competition will serve as a precursor to the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games, where several of these athletes aspire to be present.
The Madrid team has shown consistent progress in recent years, based on a solid youth programme and the experience of top-level swimmers. The club's technical management has successfully combined grassroots work with elite preparation, which is reflected in both team and individual results.
