The municipal group of Más Madrid in Pozuelo de Alarcón has expressed its support for the renovation of the football pitch on Siroco Street, but criticises the Town Hall for not promoting a community participation process before tendering the project.

The councillor of Más Madrid in Pozuelo, Patricia Cabal, has reported that residents near Siroco Street learned about the renovation of the football pitch when the project was already in the tendering phase. The party views the investment positively, but believes that key decisions have been made without involving the residents.

According to the municipal group, the improvement of this sports facility was necessary after years of use and deterioration. However, Patricia Cabal regrets that "the residents find out when the project is already in tendering." In her opinion, listening to those who live near the facility "should be the first step, not the last."

A project that arrives without prior debate

The party argues that many residents in the area have not been able to express their opinions or proposals regarding an action that directly affects their daily lives. The football pitch on Siroco Street is a space widely used by families and athletes in the neighbourhood, and its renovation will change the character of the surroundings.

For Más Madrid Pozuelo, the Town Hall should have initiated a citizen participation process before drafting the project. "An action of this nature should have been shared beforehand with the residents and users of the area," the party states.

Concerns about future maintenance

In addition to the participatory process, the party focuses on the future maintenance of the facilities. Patricia Cabal reminds that Pozuelo "has too much experience with projects that generate great headlines but then do not receive the maintenance they need."

The councillor considers it necessary to ensure that the new football pitch has sufficient resources to be maintained in good condition throughout its useful life. Maintenance is, according to Más Madrid, an aspect that should not be sidelined in favour of the initial investment.

Support for the residents of Prado de Somosaguas

Más Madrid Pozuelo has also expressed its support for the request of the residents of Prado de Somosaguas to participate in the development of the project. The party invites residents and users to inform themselves and convey their proposals to the Town Hall.

"I advocate for sports and I advocate for improving our facilities. But I also defend something equally important: that the residents are part of the decisions that affect their environment," stated Patricia Cabal.

The party concludes by advocating for a model of a city where public investments are developed with greater community involvement. The works on the football pitch on Siroco Street are scheduled for the coming months, and residents still have time to make their voices heard.
