The swimmer from Pozuelo, Guillermo Gil Viturro, has become the main protagonist of the Junior and Absolute Summer Championship of the Community of Madrid by winning a gold, a silver, and a bronze in the distance events.

The Pozuelo Swimming Club experienced a glorious weekend at the M-86 Swimming Centre in Madrid. Between July 3 and 5, twelve swimmers from the club competed in the Junior and Absolute Summer Championship of the Community of Madrid, and the name that shone the most was Guillermo Gil Viturro, who won three medals.

A bronze and two silvers in the distance events

Guillermo Gil secured the junior bronze in the 800 meters freestyle, a highly demanding event. However, his best performance came in the 1,500 meters freestyle, where he was crowned junior runner-up and also took home the bronze in the absolute classification, competing against swimmers of all ages. In total, a gold, a silver, and a bronze that demonstrate his excellent form.

The swimmer, who trains at the club's facilities in Pozuelo de Alarcón, has been the great revelation of the championship for the entity. His time in the 1,500 meters freestyle places him among the best in the region in his category.

Eight finalists and a growing talent pool

But the success was not just Guillermo's. The club qualified eight athletes for various finals: Claudia Lloréns, Alejandra Morales, Alicia del Río, Javier Ayllón, Guillermo Gil, Alejandro Nogués, Pablo Morales, and Alejandro Arévalo. All of them competed at the highest level, and the rest of the team achieved personal bests.

The Pozuelo Swimming Club attended with 12 swimmers (five girls and seven boys), showcasing the depth of its talent pool. The entity has been working on the grassroots level for years, and the results in lower categories confirm this: the benjamin team was crowned champion of the Group B Federation Cup, and Emma Mayorga Barrio won two titles as Madrid champion and a bronze in the Summer Alevín Championship, as well as the qualifying time for the Spanish Championship.

For the residents of Pozuelo, these successes mean that local sports continue to rise. The club, which trains at the municipal pool, has become a benchmark for swimming in Madrid, and more and more young people are encouraged to try it. The city's facilities allow training all year round, and the club offers groups from age 6 to absolute competition.

A summer of records for Pozuelo swimming

These results add to a brilliant season. The club has harvested medals in all regional championships, and Guillermo Gil's performance confirms that hard work pays off. The next goal is the Spanish Championship, where several swimmers from the club have chances of qualifying.

Swimming in Pozuelo is enjoying a sweet moment, and fans are already looking to the future with excitement. Guillermo Gil, at just 17 years old, has a long journey ahead. For now, he has already shown that swimming fast is a reality in Pozuelo.
