Last Thursday afternoon, a fire broke out in a home located on Avenida de Europa in Pozuelo de Alarcón, prompting authorities to confine the residents of the building for several hours. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries, although it did lead to a significant mobilization of emergency services.
Origin of the Fire and Emergency Response
The fire originated on one of the floors of the residential building, according to sources from the City Council of Pozuelo. Firefighters arrived immediately after receiving the call and managed to extinguish the flames before they spread to other homes.
Rafa Lahoz, a resident of the building whose flat is on the same floor where the fire started, recounted the tense moments experienced to this newspaper. “
We quickly went outside when we smelled smoke; the firefighters arrived in minutes and asked us not to leave the house until it was under control,” he explained.
The authorities activated the confinement protocol to ensure the safety of the residents, who remained in their homes while the extinguishing teams worked in the area. It was not necessary to evacuate the building, as the fire was contained to the affected flat.
