The Aragonese bullfighter Cristiano Torres was the big winner of the bullfight held in Pozuelo de Calatrava (Ciudad Real), cutting four ears. Antonio Linares also exited on shoulders with two trophies, while Luis Miguel Vázquez obtained one.
The bullring of Pozuelo de Calatrava was the scene this Friday of a high-voltage bullfighting afternoon, with Cristiano Torres as the absolute protagonist. The Aragonese bullfighter, who did not hold back for a moment, took four ears from a fight with Alcurrucén bulls that, overall, performed well. Antonio Linares, for his part, also exited on shoulders after parading two appendices, while Luis Miguel Vázquez settled for one trophy.
Attitude and firmness of Cristiano Torres
From the first bull, Torres made it clear that he was going all out. With the third of the afternoon, a bull manageable and with good sound, the Aragonese crafted a tempered and highly tasteful performance. The initial verónicas already marked the difference, and with the muleta, he delivered a solid act that earned him the two ears without dispute. The bull, named Osadito, number 35, was awarded a vuelta al ruedo.
The sixth, which charged joyfully in the first third, collapsed too soon. But Torres, far from being discouraged, got close with determination and managed to extract the best from it. After a gaonera that lifted the audience, the bullfighter went on the attack and certified his perfect afternoon with another two ears. The president did not hesitate to wave the handkerchiefs.
The bravery of Antonio Linares
Antonio Linares experienced an afternoon of strong emotions. In the second bull, his porta gayola came at a cost: the bull knocked him down, but the man from Tomelloso managed to get up unscathed. "Miracles, sometimes, happen," commented the fans. Already with the muleta, Linares was more in tune with the right-handed passes, although he struggled more on the natural side. Against a noble but dull bull, the bullfighter added the spice that the animal lacked and paraded an ear.
In the fifth, the story repeated itself: a solid performance, with intermittent moments of greater significance, although without the brilliant adjustment expected. Nevertheless, the audience appreciated the effort and granted him a second appendage, allowing him to exit on shoulders alongside Torres.
Luis Miguel Vázquez, a trophy from less to more
Luis Miguel Vázquez had a more discreet afternoon. His first, which was hard to get going, only offered half a trip, and although the man from Daimiel accompanied it with composure, the failure on the second attempt with the sword deprived him of a possible prize, despite the audience's request. With the fourth, which had a challenging performance, he achieved better connection on the right side, and moments of notable excitement earned him an ear. However, he could not round off the performance.
The plaza recorded a half-full attendance, and the Alcurrucén bulls, very well presented, left a good taste in the mouth, especially the third. The bullfighters, especially Torres, demonstrated that bullfighting is still alive in the Manchego rings. The next bullfighting event in the region will be in Almagro next weekend.
