The Galapagar Town Hall has removed the old swings from María Zambrano Street and by the lake due to safety concerns. New play equipment made from 100% recycled plastic will be installed in September.
The Galapagar Town Hall has begun comprehensive renovation works on the recreational areas of the Parquelagos neighbourhood. Municipal workers have already removed the old play equipment from María Zambrano Street and those located by the lake, which were in an advanced state of rust and deterioration, posing a risk to users.
The new children's area on María Zambrano Street will begin installation next September. It will consist of structures made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastics, a material resistant to weather conditions, with no risk of splintering and environmentally friendly.
The space will feature a large modular play structure equipped with three platforms, a hanging bridge, two polyethylene slides, a chalkboard, and multiple access points such as a climbing wall, inclined net, vertical ladder, climbing net, and rope ramp. For younger children, an adapted play structure will be installed at ground level, incorporating an abacus, flat seat, chalkboard, and roof.
The play offerings will be completed with a nest swing with a net seat, designed for shared enjoyment, and a classic two-seat seesaw with stainless steel fittings. All structures have been designed to ensure safety and durability.
In parallel, the Town Hall has removed another obsolete and dangerous play area located by the Parquelagos lake. This space will be refurbished to become a new rest area, aiming to provide residents and families with a safer, more accessible, and comfortable environment.
This action responds to a community demand and is part of the maintenance and improvement plan for public facilities in the municipality. The council has highlighted that the new materials chosen will minimise environmental impact and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
The renovation works are part of the Galapagar Town Hall's commitment to creating inclusive and sustainable leisure spaces. With these improvements, it is expected that both children and adults will be able to enjoy a safe and pleasant environment in nature.
