The Galapagar Town Council has approved that regulated parking spaces in the urban area will be free in the afternoons throughout the month of August. The measure, which comes into effect on August 1, aims to adapt the service to the lower summer activity.
Residents of Galapagar and those visiting the municipality during August can forget about the SER ticket in the afternoons. The Town Council has modified the schedule of the Regulated Parking Service (SER) so that the blue and green spaces in the urban area are free to use from 14:00 hours, Monday to Friday.
The decision, made by Mayoral Decree, is indefinite and will apply every August in the coming years. According to municipal sources, the aim is to adapt the service to the lower commercial and mobility activity recorded during the summer period in the locality.
New SER schedule in Galapagar
The change means that from August 1 to 31, regulated parking will only operate in the morning: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours. After that time, parking in the blue and green spaces will be completely free. On Saturdays, the schedule remains from 10:00 to 14:00 hours, while Sundays and holidays were already free.
For the rest of the year, from September to July, the SER continues with its usual schedule: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00 hours. The modification has been incorporated into the Municipal Sustainable Mobility Ordinance, ensuring its continuity.
A breather for residents and visitors
The measure will benefit both residents and those visiting Galapagar in August, especially for accessing the commercial and service area of the urban centre without having to worry about the ticket. The Town Council emphasizes that the initiative facilitates mobility and access to local businesses during a month when activity decreases.
With this decision, Galapagar joins other municipalities in the Community of Madrid that are relaxing regulated parking in summer. The measure, according to the City Council, responds to a community and commercial demand, and it is expected to energise the afternoons of August in the centre.
The new schedule comes into effect on August 1 and, being indefinite, will automatically apply every summer. Drivers will still need to pay in the mornings, but from two in the afternoon, they can park without time limits or cost.
