Comedian Héctor de Miguel, known as Quequé, was arrested on Wednesday night in Salamanca due to a request from a court in Madrid. He was released on Thursday after providing an address for notifications.

The comedian Héctor de Miguel, popularly known as Quequé, was arrested on Wednesday night by National Police officers in Salamanca, his hometown, due to a court order issued by a court in Madrid. This has been confirmed by sources from the Government Delegation in Castilla y León.

After his arrest, the comedian spent the night in police custody and appeared before the magistrate of Plaza 1 of the Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance in Salamanca on Thursday. During the hearing, Quequé exercised his right not to testify but provided an address where he could be notified, which led the judge to order his release.

He is now at the disposal of the Madrid judge who issued the arrest warrant, in the context of proceedings for disobedience. The reason: failure to comply with requirements to serve a sentence imposed in a previous conviction.

Two Years in Prison Requested for Coercion

This new judicial episode adds to another ongoing case against the comedian. On March 16, the Court of First Instance Instruction Section Plaza Number 6 of Valladolid agreed to open an oral trial against Quequé as the alleged author of a crime of coercion against Polonia Castellanos, president of the Christian Lawyers association.

In that case, the Prosecutor's Office is requesting two years in prison for a crime of coercion (harassment) and the payment of 6,000 euros in compensation for harm and moral damage. Additionally, it considers the entity Cadena SER, where Quequé collaborates as a comedian, to be civilly liable.

The trial is pending a date, and in the meantime, the comedian continues his professional activity, although with this new arrest, the judicial shadow lengthens for the Madrid-born comedian (he lives in the capital).

Background: Dismissal of Another Case for Controversial Statements

This is not the first time Quequé has faced justice. On May 8, 2025, the Provincial Court of Madrid dismissed a case against him as it did not find a hate crime in the statements he made on his radio show about blowing up the Valley of the Fallen and stoning paedophile priests.

That judicial decision was a relief for the comedian, who has always defended that his comments fall within the exercise of freedom of expression and satire. However, the new proceedings for coercion and the arrest warrant for disobedience complicate his legal situation.

For the Madrid public, who closely follow Quequé's career — a regular collaborator of Cadena SER and known for his sharp humour — the news comes as a new chapter in a judicial saga that seems endless. For now, the comedian is free, but with the sword of Damocles of a possible prison sentence if the prosecutor's request succeeds.

The next steps will be the trial in Valladolid and the resolution of the disobedience case in Madrid. Meanwhile, Quequé continues to make people laugh, although it is becoming increasingly difficult for him to maintain a smile off stage.
