The Community of Madrid has set up support points in the municipalities affected by the fire. On its first day, the service attended to 236 inquiries.
The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, visited the Cadalso de los Vidrios Tourist Office this Thursday, where one of the labour advisory devices implemented by the regional government for those affected by the Sierra Oeste fires is already operational. The service, a result of an agreement with the Official College of Social Graduates of Madrid, began operating yesterday and recorded 236 consultations on its first day, 32 of which were by phone.
The minister explained that this is "a specialised resource that helps local workers and businesses resolve any doubts or uncertainties regarding labour issues that may arise." The aim, he added, is to ensure that no affected individual is left without answers regarding benefits, subsidies, or public aid.
The professionals attending these points offer guidance on benefits, subsidies, and public aid for workers, self-employed individuals, and businesses, as well as advice on Social Security, labour files, suspension or reduction of business activity, labour flexibility measures, and job maintenance. They also address questions about contribution obligations arising from the exceptional situation.
In-person, telephone, and online assistance
In-person assistance is provided Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 14:00, at the municipal offices of the affected town halls. In Aldea del Fresno, the point has been set up at the municipality's Justice Office, and in Cadalso de los Vidrios, at the Tourist Office. The other localities have designated spaces in their own town halls.
Additionally, free telephone lines have been established that operate from 9:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 18:00, and the service is also accessible online. This dual approach aims to facilitate access for those who have not yet been able to return to their homes or have difficulties travelling.
The device is part of the package of measures that the regional government is implementing for the reconstruction of the area. Among them are grants of up to 10,000 euros for affected businesses, financed with a line of 15 million euros, and a special programme of free guarantees for affected businesses and self-employed individuals.
In the fiscal realm, the Community will apply a 100% discount on the Inheritance and Donations Tax and on the Tax on Property Transfers and Documented Legal Acts for the acquisition of properties and vehicles that replace those damaged by the fire.
Interested parties can go directly to the designated points or contact the free phone numbers of each locality to resolve their queries. The measure will remain active as long as the situation requires it.
