The Local Police of Pinto has arrested four individuals accused of stealing construction materials from the future Cercanías station of La Tenería, whose works are in the final phase.

The Local Police of Pinto arrested four individuals last Monday as suspected perpetrators of a burglary at the construction site of the new Cercanías station of La Tenería. The officers intercepted a van that had been alerted by the municipal video surveillance system and found stolen construction materials inside, as well as tools such as shears and a grinder.

Alert for suspicious license plate

The municipality's automatic license plate recognition system raised the alarm upon detecting the entry of a vehicle that was listed as suspicious in several robberies in the region. The officers initiated a search and located the van on Paseo de las Artes, where they proceeded to inspect it. Inside, they found construction materials belonging to the future La Tenería station, as confirmed by sources from the Local Police.

The four occupants were arrested on site and placed at the disposal of the judiciary. The investigation continues to determine if they are involved in other similar thefts in the area.

Works in final phase

The La Tenería station, which will serve the northern area of Pinto, is in its final phase. Adif, the railway infrastructure manager, has already completed the platform, structure, and roof work of the passenger building, which is 450 square meters on a single floor. Currently, work is being done on installations, pavements, interior partitioning, and the exterior cladding, which includes a series of 'skins' on the façade to regulate interior lighting.

The station is part of the C-3 Cercanías line and its opening is expected in the coming months. Once operational, it will improve connectivity for the residents of Pinto with Madrid city and other municipalities in the corridor.

Impact on residents

The theft of materials could have delayed the works, but Adif assures that the deadlines will not be affected. Residents in the northern area of Pinto are eagerly awaiting the launch of the station, which will decongest traffic on the A-4 and offer a more efficient public transport alternative.

The Local Police of Pinto recommends citizens report any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the construction site to prevent further incidents.

“Citizen collaboration is essential to prevent this type of crime,” municipal sources stated.

The detainees will be brought before the judiciary in the coming hours, while the investigation continues its course.
