The Dominican winger, who was on loan at Real Valladolid last season, signs with the Polish runner-up until 2029. Getafe officially announces his departure.

Górnik Zabrze, the runner-up of the Polish league and cup champion, has announced the signing of Peter Federico, a 23-year-old Dominican winger who belonged to Getafe CF. The blue club confirmed this Thursday the transfer of the player, who signs a contract until 2029 and will face Fenerbahçe in the Champions League qualifiers.

A brief stint at Mestalla and Getafe

Peter Federico's career has been a carousel of loans. Trained in the Real Madrid academy, the winger joined Valencia CF in January 2023, loaned by the white club. In 15 matches, he only provided one assist, insufficient for the Che to execute the purchase option.

Getafe paid 2 million euros to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 to secure his services. However, under José Bordalás, he barely featured: 21 official matches throughout the season across League and Cup, without goals or assists. Last summer, he was loaned to Real Valladolid, recently relegated to the Second Division.

In Pucela, Peter was one of the standout players of the team: 6 goals and 1 assist in the second tier. Nevertheless, the Getafe coach did not consider his return for the European season that the blue club is now facing.

Champions League destination with Górnik Zabrze

Górnik Zabrze, a historic name in Polish football, has been the final destination for the Dominican. The club, which finished runner-up in the Ekstraklasa and won the Polish Cup, will compete in the Champions League qualifiers against Fenerbahçe managed by José Mourinho. If eliminated, they will play in the Europa League.

In their official statement, Getafe thanked Peter Federico for his professionalism, work, and commitment during his time at the club and wished him luck in his new challenge. The winger becomes the first Dominican to play in the top European competition if his team advances past the qualifying round.

What it means for Getafe and the player

For Getafe, the operation means freeing up a spot and recovering part of the investment made two summers ago. The blue club, which is fighting to qualify for European competition, did not have Peter Federico in their plans. For the player, it is an opportunity to prove his worth in Europe and to reconnect with a competitive level that eluded him in LaLiga.

Górnik Zabrze, with a dedicated fanbase, hopes that the Dominican will be the offensive spark they need to overcome the qualifying round. The first matches of the qualifiers will take place in mid-July, so Peter Federico will join the Polish pre-season immediately.
