The Getafe Healthy Homes Office has enabled nearly 5,000 families to save over €1.5 million on electricity, gas, and water since 2022. In just 2026, savings exceed €300,000.
Residents of Getafe have achieved a collective saving of over €1.5 million on their electricity, gas, and water bills since the launch of the Getafe Healthy Homes Office in 2022. The programme, driven by the Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV), is free and has already assisted nearly 5,000 families from all neighbourhoods in the municipality.
The Councillor for Housing, Gema Cáceres, emphasised that "in the face of rising utility prices in recent years, we at the City Council remain committed to the right to energy and the fight against energy poverty to ensure no one is left behind." She added that they continue to promote "real public policies that protect families' economies while ensuring our homes, buildings, and neighbourhoods are more liveable, sustainable, and cohesive."
The service offers personalised advice to each household to optimise contracts, access available aid, and improve consumption efficiency. According to EMSV data, households that use the service have an average monthly bill of about €70 and, after receiving advice, achieve a reduction of nearly 20% in their energy expenditure.
So far in 2026, the accumulated savings for the families assisted have already surpassed €300,000, according to municipal estimates. The programme also provides guidance on energy rehabilitation of buildings, self-consumption, and energy communities, informing about aids such as those offered by EMSV itself.
To bring the resource closer to residents, Healthy Homes has expanded its in-person service points. In addition to the EMSV headquarters, weekly offices have been added in the civic centres of La Alhóndiga, San Isidro, Las Margaritas, Juan de la Cierva, and Getafe Norte, bringing the total to six locations, complemented by workshops in all neighbourhoods.
