Getafe presented Andrés García on Tuesday as a new reinforcement for the defence. The left-back, on loan from Aston Villa, stated he feels "very supported" from day one.
Getafe has officially announced the arrival of Andrés García, a 24-year-old left-back, who joins on loan from Aston Villa for the 2026-27 season. The player, who has already trained with the group, was presented on Tuesday at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez before the media.
A quick and considered decision
García explained that his signing for the blue team came about within days. “As soon as the option came up, I saw that it was a club that suited what I was interested in,” he confessed. The player, who made his Premier League debut a year and a half ago, highlighted that the club's family atmosphere was decisive.
“I made the decision quite quickly. The truth is that I am very happy to be here,” he added. The player acknowledged that his time in England has given him “a level of maturity that I wouldn’t have achieved in five years” elsewhere.
Experience in the Premier and adapting to the Coliseum
The left-back, who came through the ranks at Levante, stated that the Premier League has helped him grow as a player. “There it is very physical football, with top-level players”, he noted. “I learned in a year what I could have learned in five. I believe I made a quality leap that I can now bring here.”
Regarding his first days in Getafe, García expressed his pleasant surprise. “It’s a very family-oriented club. The teammates are very good, the coaching staff… everyone,” he asserted. “I have felt very supported from the very first moment. Good facilities, I have no bad words to say.”
The conversation with Bordalás and the dream of the World Cup
Coach José Bordalás has already spoken with the new signing. “He was very close, very family-oriented. He explained what he was looking for from me”, García revealed. “So far everything is perfect, I can’t say anything more.” The player expressed excitement about the project and a desire to contribute “all my footballing and personal qualities”.
García also referred to the recent World Cup title won by the Spanish national team, of which he was a part. “It’s a total pride to have achieved the second championship as a country”, he said emotionally. “When I wore the national team shirt, I felt enormous pride. Being on the pitch, just with the anthems, gave me goosebumps.” The player celebrated the success with his family and assures that he is now focusing all his attention on Getafe.
For the blue fans, García's arrival represents a quality reinforcement for the left flank. The player, who can also act as an interior, arrives to compete for a place in a team looking to consolidate itself in the mid-high zone of LaLiga.
Getafe begins pre-season this Thursday with an open training session at the Coliseum, where fans will be able to see Andrés García in the blue shirt for the first time. The fans hope that his experience in the Premier and youthful energy will give an extra boost to Bordalás' team.
