The Rosa Montero Creative Women’s Association and the Fuenlabrada City Council have opened the deadline for participation in the XVII edition of the poetry contest 'Words of Autumn'. Works can be submitted until September 30.
Fuenlabrada has launched a new edition of the poetry contest 'Words of Autumn', which this year pays tribute to the poet Chantal Maillard. The deadline for submitting poems is now open and will close on September 30.
The contest, organised by the Rosa Montero Creative Women’s Association in collaboration with the Feminism department, aims to promote the knowledge of female poets and to highlight those who have been silenced throughout history.
This time, the prominent figure is Chantal Maillard, a Spanish-Belgian writer and one of the most important voices in contemporary poetry in Spanish. Maillard received the National Poetry Prize in 2004 for her work 'Killing Plato'.
The contest is divided into two categories: one for authors from Fuenlabrada and another for the rest of the Community of Madrid. In total, five prizes will be awarded, with amounts ranging from 500 to 100 euros. The submitted poems must be unpublished and on any theme.
Interested individuals can send their works to the '8 de Marzo' Centre for Equality in Fuenlabrada, where the complete rules of the contest can also be consulted, available on the municipal website.
The awards ceremony will take place on November 11 at 17:30 at the '8 de Marzo' Centre for Equality, coinciding with the anniversary celebration of the organising association.
The Rosa Montero Creative Women’s Association was founded in 2002 with the aim of promoting women’s creativity in the fields of culture, literature, and communication, as well as raising awareness of values such as solidarity, tolerance, and cooperation.
