The Tres Cantos Town Council has launched a special cleaning and disinfection campaign for underground containers that intensifies in July and August, with particular attention to areas with high hospitality activity.
The Tres Cantos Town Council has activated a special deep cleaning campaign for underground containers and public spaces, which is reinforced during the months of July and August. The initiative aims to minimise unpleasant odours and maintain urban spaces in optimal hygienic conditions, especially in areas with a higher accumulation of waste.
The work involves the complete extraction of each container using lifting systems. Afterwards, the units are cleaned with water and soap, the pit where they are housed is disinfected, and the pulleys and other mechanical elements are checked to ensure their proper functioning.
The Councillor for Public Services, Pedro Fernández, explained that this is a preventive action that contributes to both improving hygiene and prolonging the lifespan of these facilities. He also noted that this measure complements the regular cleaning service provided by the Town Council throughout the year.
“We take advantage of the summer period to carry out an in-depth intervention, as the lower intensity of vehicular and pedestrian traffic allows us to execute all the work with less impact on the public,” Fernández indicated.
Priority areas. The campaign is primarily carried out in the surroundings of commercial and hospitality establishments, where waste generation increases during the summer and unsanitary conditions arise due to high temperatures. Included locations are Yelmo, México, Neptuno, Comunidad Valenciana, Andalucía, and Bolillero streets, as well as Avenida de Colmenar Viejo and Avenida de España.
The councillor has also called for community cooperation: “Properly depositing bags inside the containers and respecting usage rules helps keep public spaces clean and facilitates the daily work of municipal services.”
Reinforcement in parking lots and avenues. This underground container cleaning campaign is complemented by intensive conditioning of various parking areas in the city, taking advantage of the lower vehicle occupancy typical of the holiday period.
Additionally, during this time, cleaning efforts are intensified in the major avenues of the municipality, such as Colmenar Viejo and Viñuelas, reinforcing hygiene in urban furniture and pedestrian and vehicular transit areas.
With these actions, the Town Council continues to strengthen municipal services during the summer to keep public spaces in perfect condition and improve the quality of the urban environment. The residents of Tres Cantos will notice an increased frequency of cleaning work, especially in the busiest streets and areas with high hospitality activity.
The campaign will continue throughout the summer, with a particular focus on July and August, and it is expected that the results will be reflected in a visible improvement in urban hygiene.
