The Colombian singer has presented the details of 'Macondo Park', a themed venue for 50,000 people that will host her 12 concerts in Madrid between September and October, featuring pavilions of Latin culture and a VIP area.

Shakira will transform a plot of land in Madrid into an ephemeral city inspired by magical realism. Under the name 'Macondo Park', the venue will feature eight pavilions dedicated to music, fashion, gastronomy, literature, art, cinema, children's culture, and the artistic universe of the singer, as her team revealed this Friday at a press conference.

The structure, which will be erected at the Iberdrola Music venue, will host the 12 performances of the European residency of the 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour'. The confirmed dates are September 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27, and October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11. The first concert will be on September 18, a day earlier than initially planned.

With a capacity for 50,000 people, the space will feature a central square called Macondo Plaza, which will open its doors from noon until midnight. Shakira's concert will take place between 20:30 and 23:00, as explained by the president of Live Nation Spain, Pino Sagliocco.

“Spain is Latin,” has been the message that Shakira wants to convey with this residency, according to Sagliocco, who described the project as “the most beautiful” he has worked on in terms of “a space for coexistence to make us all more empathetic.”

The venue will include two exclusive VIP areas: 'Espacio Garden' and 'Espacio Terrace', with tickets going on sale next Monday. Sagliocco defended the creation of these spaces, stating that “it is a service that needs to be provided nowadays,” and assured that prices will be “very affordable,” starting from 500 euros, in contrast to the “thousands of dollars” for other events like the Spain match in New York.

The 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour' will conclude in Spain after breaking attendance records. Among the notable milestones, Shakira gathered 400,000 people in the Zócalo of Mexico City in March and over 2 million at her concert in Copacabana (Brazil), making it the highest-grossing Latin tour in history.

For the residents of the Community of Madrid, the impact will be significant. The venue, with a capacity for 50,000 attendees each night, will mobilise hundreds of thousands of people over nearly a month. Public transport is expected to enhance its services, especially the metro and bus lines connecting to the Iberdrola Music area, although specific measures have yet to be announced.

The themed pavilions will be open to the public from noon, offering an immersive experience in Latin culture. Gastronomy, literature, and art will be some of the focal points, with spaces designed for attendees to enjoy before and after the concert.

Tickets for the VIP areas will go on sale next Monday, while general tickets are already available. The prices for the latter have not been revealed, but they are expected to range between 60 and 150 euros, according to industry sources.

This project poses a logistical challenge for the capital, which will host one of the most ambitious residencies of an international artist. The temporary structure must comply with all safety and mobility regulations, and it is expected to generate a significant economic impact on hospitality and local commerce.

With this residency, Shakira joins the trend of major artists choosing Madrid for extended performances, as Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift have done in other formats. The city thus consolidates itself as a key destination in international concert circuits.
