Former Real Madrid nutritionist Itziar González has revealed in an interview the alleged mistreatment she suffered during her time at the club, including being locked in and threatened.
Itziar González has disclosed chilling details about her time at the white club. In an interview on the YouTube channel Rogue Cast, the professional claims she was locked in a room by ten men and subjected to constant humiliation. The complaint, which is already in court, shines a light on the club's internal practices.
A first period shrouded in shadows
González initially worked as an external consultant for Real Madrid. She claims that she only spoke to one person, a powerful employee who convinced her to join. During that time, the players stopped suffering muscle injuries, which created tensions. “They call me and tell me at the medical services level ‘you can’t come back because it has worked so well that everyone hates you’,” she recounts.
The nutritionist already had experience with footballers and had faced issues with doctors from other clubs. Despite this, she accepted Real Madrid's offer because they promised to expand her method. “I couldn’t pass up the opportunity even though they don’t pay well,” she explains.
Daily boycott and an absent boss
Upon joining, the reality was very different. “The boss didn’t talk to me and they told me that the players couldn’t know I existed,” she says. She tried to speak with the higher-ups, implying she was referring to Florentino Pérez, but encountered lies. “The only person who talks to me lies,” she states.
According to her testimony, the medical services refused to cooperate and the players received messages against her. “I hear that in the locker room the players say they hate you, that you disgust them… It was a fight every day and I had been there a week,” she recalls. Despite everything, the players were “really nice” and would meet with her in the parking lot in secret.
The confinement and threats
The situation escalated when she requested to break her contract after 13 days. “They tell me I’m going to leave when they decide,” she asserts. It was then that she suffered the worst experience: “I was locked in again by ten men in a locked room, reading me the riot act and telling me ‘for your good and your family’s, you’re going to stay quiet. We don’t just want to fire you, we want to humiliate you’.”
González claims the club falsely accused her of stealing a batch of supplements. Upon investigation, she discovered that the culprit was a doctor. She requested a meeting with Florentino Pérez, but he told her to forget it. “When they saw it was getting out of hand, they disappeared,” she concludes.
Impact on the reader and context
The case of Itziar González is not isolated. Real Madrid has faced other allegations of poor labour practices, although none as serious as this. For fans and residents of the capital, the news is a blow to the club's image, which prides itself on values such as respect and excellence. The complaint is now in the hands of the judiciary, and the club is expected to make an official statement in the coming days.
In the meantime, González has made it clear that she will not be silenced: “They wanted to squash a cockroach and ended up with a lion.” The former nutritionist encourages other potential victims to come forward. The case continues its judicial course, and Real Madrid will have to provide explanations.
