The Town Hall of Torrejón de Ardoz has launched once again the Polideportiva, Predeportiva, and Swimming schools, with 3,139 participants. The mayor, Alejandro Navarro, and the councillor for Sports, Miriam Gutiérrez, visited the facilities.

The pools and courts of the Joaquín Blume Sports City in Torrejón de Ardoz are buzzing with activity this July. 3,139 schoolchildren are participating in the municipal summer sports schools, an initiative aimed at allowing children to engage in sports while their parents can work.

The Polideportiva School, the largest

The Polideportiva School, aimed at children aged 7 to 14 years, has 2,358 participants. Various disciplines are offered at its facilities, including tennis, frontenis, futsal, volleyball, orienteering, alternative sports, and swimming classes, among others. All activities take place in the morning, from Monday to Friday, until the end of July.

For the younger ones, aged 4 to 6 years, there is the Predeportiva School, with 718 registered. Here, they combine craft workshops, psychomotor skills, and basic sports skills with 45-minute swimming sessions. The goal is to introduce them to sports in a fun and safe manner.

Intensive swimming and available spots

The summer Swimming School has 63 students aged between 4 and 14 years, organised by learning levels. Classes are held daily for 45 minutes at various morning times.

The Town Hall reminds that there are still available spots in the Polideportiva and Predeportiva schools for the weeks of 20 to 24 and 27 to 31 July. The schedule is from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, with the possibility of extension and pick-up service. Registrations can be made on the municipal website set up for this purpose.

“With these schools, we aim to promote sports activity among the youngest and allow them to try different sports so they can perceive which one best suits their abilities and preferences. Additionally, they are part of the Colevacaciones and other educational and leisure activities that we prepare from the Education Department to reconcile work and family life during the weeks when their mothers and fathers are still not on holiday,” highlighted the mayor, Alejandro Navarro.

A breather for Torrejón families

This initiative, which is repeated every summer, has become a key resource for families in the municipality. While children have fun and exercise, parents can face their workday with the peace of mind of knowing their children are being cared for. The municipal reconciliation programme also includes the Colevacaciones and other educational and leisure activities that extend throughout the summer period.

The sports offer in Torrejón de Ardoz is not limited to these schools: the Town Hall schedules camps, courses, and workshops throughout the year at various facilities. For this summer, interested parties can check the registration page and choose the week that best suits their needs. Spots are still available, but it is recommended to hurry.
