From August 8 to 11, Arturo Barea square will host free concerts, a procession, and family activities.

The Lavapiés neighbourhood is preparing for one of its most traditional summer events. The San Lorenzo Festivities return from August 8 to 11 with a free programme that combines music, folklore, and religious acts in honour of the patron saint.

Arturo Barea square will once again be the epicentre of the celebration. Each day will feature musical performances and activities for all ages, with a special focus on live music and family activities.

Saturday, August 8 will kick off with a family activity, followed by the tribute La Penúltima Sabinera and a DJ session that will extend the festivities into the early hours. Sunday, August 9 will feature zarzuela and the band Los Vinagres.

On Monday, August 10, the feast day of San Lorenzo, a mass and the traditional procession through the neighbourhood streets will take place before the concert by Metroolé and another night session.

Tuesday, August 11 will close the programme with an afternoon dedicated to traditional copla, a performance by the group Lotus, and popular activities such as games, crafts, and the traditional chotis competition.

These festivities are part of the district Centre's cycle of verbenas, alongside San Cayetano and La Virgen de la Paloma, which make Lavapiés and La Latina the festive focus of the capital during August.

The programme, which is free to access, aims to maintain the spirit of neighbourly coexistence and popular culture that brings together thousands of people around these celebrations every summer.
