The Granada singer will perform 'Canciones españolas antiguas' and 'El Amor Brujo' on July 17 at the Navacerrada Bullring, as part of the Atlántida Music Fest.

Estrella Morente's voice will resonate among the pines of the Sierra de Guadarrama on July 17. The Granada singer will offer a unique concert at the Navacerrada Bullring, where she will perform works by Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla accompanied by the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra. This event is part of the sixth edition of the Atlántida Music Fest, which runs until October in various municipalities of the Madrid mountains.

A programme of two halves: Lorca and Falla

The concert, titled “Lorca, Falla and Estrella Morente: the fire of the Spanish soul”, will start at 22:30. In the first half, the Granada artist will perform a selection of Canciones españolas antiguas compiled by Federico García Lorca, featuring popular pieces such as Anda, jaleo, Los cuatro muleros, and El Café de Chinitas.

The second half will be entirely dedicated to El Amor Brujo, Manuel de Falla's masterpiece in its original 1914 version. According to the organisers, this score “overflows with passion, mystery, and dramatic force,” and in Morente's voice, it promises a special intensity. The setting, the Navacerrada Bullring, will provide a natural backdrop that the organisers describe as “intimate and moving.”

19 concerts until October in six municipalities

The Atlántida Music Fest, which began in 2021 as La Sierra Musicfest, is celebrating its sixth edition with a programme that includes 19 concerts in locations such as Soto del Real, Collado Mediano, Navacerrada, Manzanares el Real, El Boalo-Cerceda-Mataelpino, and El Escorial. The resident orchestra, the Atlántida Chamber Orchestra, will feature in several of the main concerts with programmes like Las Cuatro Estaciones by Vivaldi or a tribute to Maestro Alonso.

The lineup also includes solo recitals and chamber music, featuring names such as pianist Frank Wasser, violinist Marco Reiss, and the piano duo of Ilaria Constantino and Andrea Allegrini. Jazz will have its place with a tribute to Frank Sinatra by the Aragonese group Gradus Jazz, and lyrical performances will be provided by soprano Sonia Suárez and pianist Omar Sánchez.

As a new feature, this year the ECDA Summer Music Academy of El Escorial, which has been training students of all levels for 18 years, will be integrated into the festival. Its orchestra will accompany the Dúo Fortecello at the academy's closing on July 25.

More than concerts: meetings and training

The Atlántida Music Fest is not limited to concerts. The organisation has scheduled round tables, professional meetings, masterclasses, and networking sessions aimed at creating a space for dialogue and artistic mobility. Thus, the festival presents itself as an international meeting of classical music and cultural management that combines artistic programming with professional exchange.

“We seek for the audience not only to enjoy the music but also to connect with the artists and understand the creative process,” the organisers explain.

For the residents of the mountains, this edition represents an opportunity to enjoy top-level music without leaving their municipality. Tickets for Estrella Morente's concert are already on sale on the festival's website, with prices ranging from 25 to 40 euros. The capacity of the Bullring is limited, so the organisers recommend purchasing tickets in advance.

The festival will conclude in October with a closing concert yet to be announced. In the meantime, the Sierra de Guadarrama is preparing to resonate with flamenco, classical music, and jazz in an incomparable natural setting.
