All opposition groups in Majadahonda have requested the appearance of the Security councillor, Ignacio Silván, to report on the situation of the Local Police and Civil Protection. The City Council, for its part, highlights that crime dropped by 7.4% in the first quarter of 2026.
The opposition in the Majadahonda City Council has joined forces to demand the appearance of the delegated councillor for Security and Civil Protection, Ignacio Silván González. The request, signed by all municipal groups except the PP, seeks to have the councillor explain the current state of the Local Police and the Civil Protection service in the municipality.
The request comes after Vox claimed that the PP government team has left various questions about security unanswered in recent months. The party led by Pablo Pérez Gallardo has denounced a "progressive deterioration of security" in the locality, although official data from the Ministry of the Interior point in the opposite direction.
The Crime Balance for the first quarter of 2026, published by the Ministry of the Interior, reflects a 7.4% drop in criminal offences compared to the same period last year. This decrease is supported both by conventional crime, which fell by 3.8%, and by cybercrime, which reduced by 17.7%.
The mayor, Lola Moreno, has positively assessed this data and has stated that it "confirms a solid and very positive evolution that endorses the security policy being developed by this government team." Moreno has highlighted the joint work of the Civil Guard and the Local Police, as well as the management of the security department.
However, Vox insists that the crime rate per inhabitant in Majadahonda remains higher than in neighbouring municipalities such as Las Rozas, Pozuelo de Alarcón, or Boadilla del Monte. The City Council denies this claim and asserts that the Ministry's data does not support that comparison.
The far-right party has also pointed out the "situation of instability" in the Local Police Headquarters due to recent changes in the leadership of the force, which in their view "evidences internal management problems." In Civil Protection, they warn of "organizational and personnel deficiencies that affect the service."
The spokesperson for Vox in Majadahonda, Pablo Pérez Gallardo, has stated that "Majadahonda cannot continue living in complacency while concerns among residents increase." He emphasized that security requires "planning, resources, transparency, and the ability to react."
For its part, the government team defends its management and reminds that, beyond the overall figures, significant police operations have taken place, such as the dismantling of a criminal organization dedicated to violent robberies in the area by the Civil Guard, as well as the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of several violent robberies against elderly people.
The appearance of Ignacio Silván, if it takes place, will be a thermometer of the political tension in the municipality regarding security. Meanwhile, the residents of Majadahonda observe with attention data that, although positive overall, do not completely dispel the opposition's doubts about the daily management of security on the streets.
The City Council has not yet confirmed the date of the appearance, although municipal sources assure that the councillor is "available to the groups" to inform when required.
