The Beach Dog Club of VivePets, in Las Rozas, offers a pool with a depth of up to three meters for dogs and owners to bathe together. Eight out of ten visitors end up getting into the water with their pets.
The heat is intense in the Community of Madrid, and dog owners are looking for alternatives to cool off their pets. In Las Rozas, the Beach Dog Club of VivePets has become a refuge where humans and dogs share a pool. The outdoor area is completely fenced and features a pool with up to three meters of depth, ramps, steps, floating balls, showers, and shaded areas.
The centre is open every day of the year in two shifts, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, with a maximum capacity of 30 people and dogs. The entrance for one dog and one adult costs €16.50, while each additional companion or pet pays €6.50. Some shifts are reserved for dogs weighing less than 13 kilos, and potentially dangerous animals can also access, provided they comply with leash and muzzle regulations.
A Complex Designed for Animal Welfare
The Beach Dog Club is part of a complex that has been open since 2016, which also offers dog hotel, daycare, grooming, veterinary services, shop, and transport to pick up animals from various points in the region. Next to the pool, there is a bar with drinks and snacks for owners, as well as ice creams and treats for the dogs. The water undergoes continuous monitoring, and the filtration system operates 24 hours a day.
Labradors and golden retrievers are usually the most eager to jump into the water, although some dogs need time to overcome their fear. The centre advises against forcing them or throwing them into the pool, instead allowing them to enter on their own. Eight out of ten visitors end up getting into the water with their pet, according to data from the centre itself.
Requirements and Recommendations for Access
To access the canine pool, it is mandatory for animals to have a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination. The kennel cough vaccine is also recommended. The centre has a team of professionals supervising the bathing and ensuring the safety of all attendees.
The initiative has been well received by the residents of Las Rozas and nearby municipalities, who see this pool as an ideal option to combat high temperatures without leaving their pets at home. The price, affordable for a different experience, and the opportunity to share the bath with the dog have been key to its success.
For those who are unsure, the centre reminds that the important thing is for the dog to enjoy. No throwing them into the water forcefully: let them decide when to take the first plunge. And if they ultimately don’t swim, there’s always the option to have something at the bar while the dog cools off in the shower.
