The youth men's team from the Boadilla club achieves second place in the prestigious Portuguese tournament, which featured twelve teams, most of which reached the final stages.
The Boadilla Volleyball Association (ABV) has once again put the name of Boadilla del Monte at the forefront of international amateur volleyball. The youth men's team has been crowned runner-up at the 2026 International Tournament in Espinho, one of the most important events on the global calendar for this discipline.
The Boadilla team approached the tournament with the challenge of competing for the first time in the youth category, after winning the title in the 2025 edition in a lower category. Despite the leap, the team completed a championship of great quality, losing only two matches throughout the competition.
The second position in Portugal caps off an exceptional season for the team, which has also achieved promotion to the First Division after an impeccable league campaign, remaining unbeaten. This generation thus consolidates itself as one of the most successful in the recent history of the club.
ABV Boadilla sent a total of twelve teams to Espinho, with more than half reaching the final stages, finishing among the top five in their categories. These results reflect the growth of the entity in recent years and the high competitive level of its youth teams.
The Portuguese tournament, organised by AMB, gathers over 9,000 players from countries such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, Venezuela, and the United States every summer, establishing itself as an international reference for amateur volleyball.
Beyond the results, participation in Espinho reinforces the club's philosophy, which values effort, teamwork, and personal growth. The expedition included 146 families who shared a week of camaraderie around the sport.
The sports project of ABV Boadilla is characterised by accompanying players from grassroots categories to adulthood. An example of this is several female coaches from the club, who started playing in the lower categories and today are part of the project both from the benches and on the court. Some of them also participated in the tournament as players, achieving a commendable fifth place.
With this new international success, ABV Boadilla continues to project the name of Boadilla del Monte beyond Spain and demonstrates that constant work and training in values are the best formula for achieving sporting excellence.
