The traditional children's carriage run took place this Thursday in the streets of Embajadores, bringing together dozens of families for the first major event of the summer festivities in the Centro district.
This Thursday, the San Cayetano festivities experienced one of their most anticipated moments: the traditional family-friendly popular run, which once again filled the streets of the Embajadores neighbourhood with fun. Dozens of families accompanied the little ones in this race featuring cardboard bull heads on wheels, known as carriages.
The route, organised by the La Corrala Residents' Association, started from the General Vara de Rey square, continued along the Amazonas street, and concluded at the Cascorro square. The festive atmosphere marked the entire activity, with applause, music, and a crowd that filled much of the route to cheer on the participants.
Residents and visitors joined in on an event that has become one of the most popular family-oriented proposals of the festivities. The run has once again highlighted the participatory and community spirit of San Cayetano, where traditional activities coexist with initiatives aimed at children.
The celebrations began on August 4, kicking off the calendar of the traditional summer festivities in the Centro district. During these days, the Ribera de Curtidores hosts a large part of the activities aimed at families, featuring magic shows, puppet performances, concerts, and various initiatives for all ages.
San Cayetano thus establishes itself as the first major festive event of the Madrid summer. Following its conclusion, the festivities of San Lorenzo will take over, taking place from August 8 to 11 with music, children's workshops, traditional games, lemonade distribution, and the traditional procession of the patron saint.
The cycle of summer festivities in the Centro district will conclude from August 13 to 16 with the celebrations of the Virgen de la Paloma, one of the most emblematic events of summer in Madrid, which will once again feature concerts, traditional activities, and the customary lowering of the Virgin's painting by the Fire Brigade before the procession on August 15.
