The Geoportal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition updates fuel prices daily. This Thursday, the cheapest petrol station in the Community of Madrid is in El Álamo, with 95 petrol at €1.339 per litre.
The price of petrol remains an obsession for Madrid drivers, especially as the weekend approaches and it's time to fill up for a getaway. This Thursday, July 9, the cheapest service station in the region is located in El Álamo, on the M-404 road, kilometre 3.640, where the litre of 95 petrol costs €1.339, according to data from the Geoportal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition.
Closely following are other establishments in the southwest area. In the same locality, the Plenergy petrol station, located at Avenida Madrid 2, offers the litre at €1.347. In Navalcarnero, the Galp service station, at Avenida Constitución 170, has it for €1.349. Three options that, although they may seem minimal differences, represent a notable saving when filling a 50-litre tank: up to €5 less compared to the average in the Community of Madrid, which hovers around €1.45 per litre.
The Map of Low Prices in the Metropolitan South
The majority of the cheapest petrol stations are concentrated in the municipalities of the south and southwest of the region. In Fuenlabrada, up to seven stations offer 95 petrol at prices ranging from €1.385 to €1.389 per litre. Notable are Gasoelectric Low Cost (Calle Almanzor 11), Alcampo Fuenlabrada (Loranca shopping centre) and several Plenergy and Ballenoil stations scattered throughout the locality.
In Alcorcón, four petrol stations are marking €1.389 per litre: two Plenergy on the M-506 road, Alcampo on Avenida Europa and Lavaplus on the same avenue. Humanes de Madrid also makes the list with three stations at that price: two T9 and one Ballenoil. In Valdemoro, the service area Área 117, located at Calle Narciso Monturiol 28, offers the litre at €1.387.
Further east, in Meco, the Plenergy petrol station on Camino del Olivo 1 sells at €1.395, an interesting option for drivers in the Henares Corridor. In Navalcarnero, in addition to the aforementioned Galp, Ballenoil and Maxpetrol compete with prices of €1.390.
The Government Discount and the Shadow of the Middle East
The context helps to understand these figures. The Government is maintaining a temporary discount on fuels, although with decreasing amounts: this month of July represents a saving of 15 cents per litre, which will reduce to 10 in August and to 5 in September. A support that, according to sources from the Ministry of Finance, aims to soften the impact of oil volatility, conditioned by tensions in the Middle East.
For the Madrid driver, the recommendation is clear: consult the Geoportal before filling up. The official tool, updated daily, allows locating the cheapest petrol stations near home or on route. And with current prices, a small detour of a few kilometres can mean a saving of up to €6 on a full tank. After all, every penny counts, especially with holidays and long trips approaching. As experts say, planning refuelling is almost as important as choosing the destination.
