The Community of Madrid has activated 375 hotel places for residents of Sierra Oeste whose homes have been rendered uninhabitable after the fire. The regional government, through the Red Cross, offers accommodation, transport and meals.
The Community of Madrid has launched an emergency device to assist families in Sierra Oeste who cannot return to their homes due to the fire that has affected the area. In total, 375 hotel places have been managed through an emergency contract with the Red Cross, which includes not only accommodation but also transport and full meals throughout the day.
The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, supervised the operation of two Fire After Assistance Points (PATI) located in San Martín de Valdeiglesias and Villa del Prado on Friday. These points have become the coordination centre for assistance, where a team of professionals attends to those affected and manages the necessary resources.
At the PATI, residents can receive comprehensive care, including psychological support and guidance on the procedures for returning home. Additionally, assessments of the condition of the homes are conducted, and potential issues with water and electricity supplies are identified. So far, 627 psychological and informational consultations have been provided to those affected.
Since Tuesday, residents have been gradually returning to their homes, although many of them are still uninhabitable. To facilitate this process, the regional government has deployed Mobile Citizen Attention Offices, which move to the PATI to provide psychological support and guidance on matters related to returning home and the consequences of the fire.
These mobile units, which began operating on Monday the 27th, have processed 306 information and guidance inquiries and have provided 107 psychological consultations. The team consists of 36 psychologists and 36 agents from 012. Meanwhile, professionals from SUMMA 112 have provided over 200 psychological consultations since the start of the emergency.
The device is part of the regional government's response to meet the most urgent needs of the residents of Sierra Oeste, one of the areas most affected by the fire. Coordination among various public services and collaboration with the Red Cross are enabling a quick and effective response to the affected families.
For residents who still cannot return home, the hotel places provide temporary relief while the condition of their homes is assessed. The Community of Madrid has assured that support will be maintained as long as necessary, with the aim of ensuring that all families can return to their homes safely.
The PATI will remain operational in the coming days, offering information and support to those affected. Residents in need of assistance can visit these points or contact 012, where they will be attended to by service professionals.
