The Alcobendas Plenary has given the green light to 15 new tax cuts in the 2027 Ordinances, which will result in savings of €5.5 million for residents. The measures include discounts on direct debit taxes, reductions for large families, and support for small businesses.
The Councillor for Economy and Popular spokesperson, Marta Martín, has described the measure as
“the most ambitious tax cut in the history of Alcobendas”. According to her data, the accumulated savings over the four years of the legislature will reach €34 million.
Four blocks of reductions for all budgets
The reductions are structured into four blocks. The first, of a general nature, increases the discount for direct debit bills to 5% and up to 3% on the taxes of the Aplaza 6 programme. The second block focuses on the waste tax, with discounts of up to 15% for large families who compost and 90% for vulnerable individuals or those at risk of social exclusion.
The third block benefits small businesses, SMEs, and self-employed individuals with premises of less than 70 square metres, who will receive discounts on the waste tax if they collect cardboard door-to-door. Finally, the fourth block reduces the vehicle tax: 100% discount for historic vehicles and 25% for those over 25 years old.
Acoustic screens on the A-1 and graffiti
The Plenary has also approved two motions regarding the acoustic screens installed by the central government on the A-1. One from the PP and another from Vox, both supported by Futuro Alcobendas, while PSOE and Más Madrid voted against. The Popular text demands an urgent meeting and immediate cleaning of the graffiti, as well as anti-graffiti treatment. The Vox motion calls for a review of the adopted solution and a municipal technical report on landscape integration.
Special Plan for tertiary areas
The Corporation has approved a Special Plan for the Improvement of Economic Activities, which according to the Councillor for Urbanism, Jesús Montero, aims to
“adapt certain economic areas to the current needs of the city”. The plan increases flexibility and competitiveness of spaces designated for economic activities, favouring diversity of business uses.
Support for Venezuela and other motions
Unanimously, an institutional declaration of support for the Venezuelan people has been approved, with the presence of members of the Venezuelan community in the plenary hall. The Corporation expresses its sorrow for the victims of the double earthquake, thanks the solidarity campaign of the Venezuelan Association of Alcobendas, and allocates €45,000 for humanitarian aid. Additionally, a motion from Futuro Alcobendas has been approved to rename Vereda Corta street to Arsenio Inclán, founder of the European Lyceum, and another from Más Madrid for the ecological conversion of public spaces in response to heatwaves.
Finally, the Organic Regulation of the Plenary has been amended to adapt it to the new Electronic File, aiming to improve municipal transparency and efficiency.
