The Community of Madrid presents the sixth edition of the Fiesta del Toro, which will culminate on July 30 at the Plaza de Las Ventas with the final of the Copa Chenel. Three novilleros will compete for a place in the Corrida de la Hispanidad.

The Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas will be the stage on July 30 for the final of the Copa Chenel, a bullfighting event that the Community of Madrid presented this Thursday as part of the sixth edition of the Fiesta del Toro. The Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Interior, Carlos Novillo, was responsible for unveiling the poster for an event that will bring together three young bullfighting talents.

The matadors qualified for the final are Alejandro Marcos, Héctor Gutiérrez and Manuel Diosleguarde. They will face cattle from the El Capea and Carmen Lorenzo farms, in an afternoon that promises strong emotions for bullfighting fans in Madrid. The winner will not only take home the trophy but will also secure a spot in the Corrida de la Hispanidad, which will take place on October 12 in the same monumental plaza.

A Commitment to Young Toreros

During the presentation, Minister Novillo highlighted that the aim of the Copa Chenel is to support young toreros in their professional consolidation. “We want these young men to have a real opportunity to make their way in the world of bullfighting,” he stated. The initiative, organized by the Fundación Toro de Lidia, has previously helped to boost the careers of figures such as Fernando Adrián, Isaac Fonseca, and Borja Jiménez.

The sixth edition of the Fiesta del Toro includes a total of 25 events in 17 municipalities across the region. Among them are the Copa Chenel, the Kilómetro Cero circuit, and the Novilladas Circuit. The regional government has allocated 1.7 million euros for its celebration, an investment that, according to sources from the Ministry, aims to energize the bullfighting sector and keep alive a tradition with deep roots in the Community of Madrid.

Revival of Events and Prices for Young People

One of the highlights of this edition is the revival of events in municipalities such as Daganzo de Arriba, which had not held bullfights for some time. The return of bullfighting to these localities has been well received by residents, according to the organization. Furthermore, to attract a younger audience, ticket prices have been adjusted: those under 18 will have free access to the events, and those under 26 will pay only ten euros.

The final of the Copa Chenel at Las Ventas is set to be the crowning jewel of a bullfighting-filled July in the region. The three novilleros arrive after successfully navigating several elimination rounds, where they have demonstrated their skill and bravery. Bullfighting fans in Madrid are eagerly anticipating an event that has become a summer classic season after season. Tickets for the final will soon be available at the plaza's box office and through official sales channels.
