The Town Hall of Torrejón de Ardoz has launched a WhatsApp channel to send current news and information of interest to residents for free and instantly.
The Town Hall of Torrejón de Ardoz has enabled an official WhatsApp channel so that residents can receive current news and information of interest about the municipality directly and for free on their mobile phones. This initiative, which adds to other digital tools already in place, aims to improve communication with citizens and provide a more agile and closer service.
To subscribe, interested parties only need to click on the link provided by the Town Hall and activate notifications on their device. The channel is one-way: messages are sent exclusively by the Town Hall, and subscribers cannot reply. This ensures that the information arrives without noise and that privacy is protected, as users' phone numbers and profile pictures remain hidden.
The channel can be found in the “News” tab of the messaging application. Those who sign up will receive instant alerts on topics such as municipal notices, cultural events, administrative procedures, traffic disruptions, or any other useful information for daily life in Torrejón de Ardoz.
This new communication channel is part of the Town Hall's commitment to closeness and transparency. Last year, the Virtual Assistant and the Virtual Citizen Service Office were already launched, two tools that allow residents to make inquiries and manage online. With the WhatsApp channel, the Town Hall takes another step to adapt to the digital habits of the population.
The WhatsApp channel thus joins traditional municipal information channels, such as the website, social media, and official announcements. The main advantage, according to municipal sources, is immediacy: messages arrive directly on the mobile without the need to open an application or check a bulletin board.
To access the channel, interested parties can do so through the link whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaOtRG92UPBKf2DZmt38. Once inside, it is enough to click “Follow” and activate notifications to start receiving municipal communications.
The Town Hall reminds that the service is completely free and that it is not necessary to share any personal data beyond the phone number, which is also kept hidden from other subscribers. The initiative aims to reach as many residents as possible, especially those who prefer to receive information quickly and without intermediaries.
With this measure, Torrejón de Ardoz aligns itself with other administrations that have already opted for WhatsApp channels as a direct communication tool with citizens. Experience in other municipalities shows that this system is particularly useful for disseminating urgent notices, such as weather alerts or supply cuts.
Residents who have already subscribed positively evaluate the initiative. “I find it very practical. This way, I don’t have to keep an eye on the website or social media; everything comes to my mobile,” comments a resident. The Town Hall hopes that in the coming weeks the channel will reach a significant number of followers.
For those who have questions about how the channel works, the Town Hall has published a quick guide on its website. You can also contact the Virtual Citizen Service Office to resolve any technical issues.
