The player from Torrejón de Ardoz, Paula Clemente, has claimed the title of Madrid club champion in pickleball in the absolute +18 category, after defeating the Growth Móstoles team in the final.
The Torrejón player Paula Clemente has concluded the pickleball season with a new success: she has been crowned Madrid team champion in the absolute +18 category. The competition, organised by the Madrid Tennis Federation, took place on July 4 and 5 at the federative facilities in Fuencarral.
Clemente, who is part of the AsDePickle club in Madrid, achieved the title after defeating Growth Móstoles in the final. This victory adds to her impressive record this season, where she had already secured a bronze medal at the Spanish Championship.
The player from Torrejón de Ardoz also boasts other recent successes: last season she was the Madrid champion in singles and the runner-up in women's doubles. Her progression in this sport positions her as one of the leading figures in pickleball in the Community of Madrid.
“Congratulations on this Madrid championship that you have achieved alongside your teammates in a sport like pickleball that is increasingly popular in our country,” highlighted the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
Pickleball is a relatively young sport in Spain, but it is rapidly gaining followers. It combines elements of tennis, paddle, badminton, and ping pong, and is played on a court the same size as a badminton court. In Spain, it is regulated by the Pickleball Committee of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), which manages licenses, official competitions, and the national ranking.
The Madrid tournament has brought together the best clubs in the region, and the title achieved by Paula Clemente and her AsDePickle teammates represents a boost to the growth of this discipline in the Community of Madrid.
