The City Council of Coslada has activated the yellow alert for high temperatures for today and tomorrow, with maximums of 36 and 28 degrees respectively. AEMET forecasts that on Thursday temperatures will reach 39 degrees, which could raise the alert to orange.

The thermometer shows no mercy in the Henares Corridor. The City Council of Coslada has implemented the heat protocol in light of the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which announces temperatures of up to 36 degrees for this Wednesday and an even more severe spike on Thursday, with maximums that could reach 39 degrees during the central hours of the day.

Recommendations to avoid heat strokes

From the City Council, they remind that the most vulnerable groups —the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses— must take extra precautions. The main measure is to avoid going outside between 12:00 and 17:00, when the sun is at its strongest.

Drinking water frequently, even if you are not thirsty, and wearing light-coloured clothing are simple gestures that can make a difference. It is also recommended to close windows, blinds, and curtains during the day to keep homes cool, and to ventilate only at night. The City Council insists that minors, the elderly, or animals should never be left inside a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.

AEMET warns: Thursday, orange alert

The situation will worsen on Thursday, when AEMET is expected to activate the orange alert in the area due to temperatures of 39 degrees. That day, the heat will be particularly intense in the Henares Corridor, where Coslada is preparing for a thermal peak that will require heightened self-protection measures.

The City Council has made a call for collective responsibility so that residents are attentive to those who may be at risk, especially elderly people living alone or without adequate air conditioning.

“Citizen collaboration is essential to identify and help those who may be in vulnerable situations,” municipal sources state.

What to do if you feel dizzy or fatigued

In the event of symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, headache, or muscle cramps, the City Council recommends seeking a cool place, drinking water, and consulting a healthcare professional. If symptoms persist or worsen, do not hesitate to go to a health centre or call 112.

For the residents of Coslada, the City Council has provided updated information on its website (coslada.es) and recommends following AEMET bulletins. With Thursday approaching, it is better to be safe than sorry: the heat does not forgive, and in the Henares Corridor city, they are preparing for a scorching day.
