The Community of Madrid has designed 39 camps and 12 volunteer fields for young people aged 12 to 30, with 1,445 places. The offer includes everything from multi-adventure to digital disconnection, with the Modo Avión camp quadrupling its offering.
The General Directorate of Youth has launched an ambitious educational leisure programme for the months of July and August. In total, 1,445 places are offered across 39 camps and 12 volunteer fields, both in the region and in other autonomous communities and abroad.
Camps for ages 12 to 17
Of the total places, 1,200 are aimed at young people between 12 and 17 years old, distributed across 22 camps that will take place in the Community of Madrid and 17 more in other regions such as Castilla y León, La Rioja, the Basque Country, Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Cantabria, Navarra, and Extremadura.
The themes are varied: cinema, musical theatre, photography, multi-adventure, science, technological leisure, hip hop, or circus. Each camp aims to foster specific skills while young people enjoy a communal experience.
Modo Avión: the commitment to digital disconnection
For the second consecutive year, the Modo Avión camp returns as one of the flagship initiatives. In this edition, it has quadrupled its offering to 180 places. It will take place in two locations: the El Encín estate of IMIDRA, in Alcalá de Henares, and the Villa Castora youth hostel, in Cercedilla. The idea is for participants to disconnect from screens and social media to connect with nature and outdoor activities.
“It’s a unique opportunity for young people to rediscover leisure without technology,” highlight sources from the General Directorate of Youth. The demand has been so high that the offering has been multiplied compared to last year.
Volunteer fields for all ages
In addition to the camps, the programme includes 12 volunteer fields with 245 places, aimed at both minors and adults. These programmes allow participants to collaborate for 15 to 20 days on projects of social, cultural, or environmental interest, combining community work with educational and leisure activities.
The goal is to promote intercultural learning, cooperation, and social commitment. “Participants not only help, but also learn and grow as individuals,” explain the organisers. In addition to these places, there are another 400 in initiatives organised in different autonomous communities and abroad.
For the young people of the Community of Madrid, this offer represents an affordable and educational summer alternative, with prices ranging from 100 to 300 euros depending on the programme. Registrations are already open on the General Directorate of Youth website.
In total, the youth leisure offer of the Community of Madrid for this summer reaches 1,445 places, a figure that reflects the regional government's commitment to quality leisure for young people. However, if you are someone who can't put down their phone even to sleep, maybe Modo Avión isn't for you. But hey, there's always circus or hip hop to release some adrenaline.
