The Arganda del Rey City Council increases the investment of the Municipal Programme of Educational and Reconciliation Aid (PMAEC) to 800,000 euros for the 2026/2027 school year, with increases in meals, school supplies, and extracurricular activities.
The Arganda del Rey City Council has announced a new increase in the allocation for the Municipal Programme of Educational and Reconciliation Aid (PMAEC) for the 2026/2027 school year, which will reach 800,000 euros. This figure represents a 7% increase compared to the previous call, as confirmed by the mayor, Alberto Escribano.
The municipal budget for 2026 includes this increase, which translates into concrete improvements in most of the services covered by the programme. Meal aid for the first cycle of early childhood education grows by 16.6%, reaching 70,000 euros, while aid for the second cycle of early childhood and primary education increases by 11.6%, totalling 356,000 euros.
The allocation for the early school and play and snack services is also increased, rising by 15.56% to 52,000 euros. The purchase of books and school supplies, on the other hand, experiences a 2% increase, amounting to 170,000 euros.
The mayor has highlighted that these aids "reinforce the municipality's commitment to education and family reconciliation." In the same vein, the City Council has introduced changes in the access requirements to facilitate processing.
One of the main innovations is the elimination of the per capita income limit for aid aimed at students with specific needs and for scholarships for good academic performance. Furthermore, to apply for the latter, the performance of the previous year will be recognised, without the need to be enrolled during the 2026/2027 school year.
The City Council maintains the payment system in two instalments, instead of the three that were previously applied. This measure, according to municipal sources, aims to expedite the collection for families.
The regular application period will open from 1 to 15 September electronically, and from 16 September to 9 October both in person and online. As a new feature, applications can be submitted late at private nursery schools if justified reasons occur, such as the birth of a child after the deadline, the family's arrival in the municipality after the course has started, or changes in the parents' employment situation.
The City Council has published the complete bases of the programme on the municipal electronic headquarters aid platform, where interested families can consult all the requirements and necessary documentation.
This investment is part of the 2026 budgets, which the City Council approved with "the largest investment in education in the last 15 years," as indicated by the mayor in his presentation. With the 800,000 euros from the PMAEC, Arganda del Rey reinforces its commitment to reconciliation and support for families in a context of rising educational costs.
