The Community of Madrid has approved the extension of management contracts for 23 public nurseries, including those in Arganda del Rey, with an investment of over €14.8 million. Free places for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education are guaranteed until August 31, 2027.

The Community of Madrid has given the green light to the continuity of the public nurseries Gloria Fuertes and Pinceladas in Arganda del Rey, at least until August 31, 2027. The Governing Council has approved the extension of management contracts for 23 first cycle Early Childhood Education centres, with an investment exceeding €14.8 million.

This measure guarantees the operation of the two nurseries in Arganda, which are part of the regional public network. In total, 3,724 places are secured across various municipalities in Madrid, including Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Coslada, Alcalá de Henares, Móstoles, Leganés, Alcobendas, and Valdemoro.

Free schooling since 2019

According to the regional government, the extension of the contracts will allow for the continued opening of the centres and provide educational care in the first cycle of Early Childhood Education. The aim is to contribute to the reconciliation of work and family life for families in Arganda del Rey.

The Gloria Fuertes and Pinceladas nurseries are integrated into the regional public network, which currently consists of 392 centres. Since 2019, schooling for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education has been free for families, providing economic relief for households in the municipality.

Requirements for management allocation

The Ministry of Education, Science and Universities has detailed that, for the allocation of management of these centres, aspects such as the educational project, pedagogical proposal, attention to students with specific educational support needs, organisation of human resources, and the offer of complementary activities are evaluated. This decision represents a boost to public education in the eastern area of the Community of Madrid.

For the residents of Arganda del Rey, the continuity of these nurseries provides peace of mind when planning their children's schooling. The free places allow families to access quality education at no additional cost, promoting equal opportunities from the earliest years.

The duration of the contracts extends until August 31, 2027, providing a horizon of stability for families and staff at the centres. The Community of Madrid has emphasised that this extension is part of its commitment to public early childhood education.
