The French winger Michael Olise, 24, has informed his teammates from the national team of his desire to join Real Madrid this summer, according to the newspaper L'Equipe.
The Real Madrid is once again at the centre of one of the transfer market sagas. Michael Olise, winger for Bayern Munich and the French national team, has expressed to his teammates at the World Cup camp in the United States his intention to wear white next season, as reported by the newspaper L'Equipe.
The player's desire clashes with Bayern's stance
The 24-year-old footballer believes that after two brilliant seasons at the Bavarian club, the time has come to make the leap to the Madrid team. According to reports, Olise has already asked his compatriots Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni about daily life at Real Madrid.
However, Bayern Munich has remained inflexible. Herbert Hainer, president of the German club, stated at the end of June: “If Florentino Pérez had an offer in mind, he can save his effort because we do not want to sell Michael.” The president added that Real Madrid assured them they had no contact whatsoever with the player.
“We have a very good relationship with Real Madrid and, as a result, they contacted me to say that, firstly, they have absolutely no contact with Michael Olise and, secondly, they do not want these constant speculations in the media,” Hainer stated.
The Bayern has Olise tied down until 2029 and intends to extend his contract to make him a key part of their project. The German management has cut off any possibility of negotiation, and there is talk of a clause close to 200 million euros.
Real Madrid remains silent
The white club, for its part, issued an official statement on June 20 denying any contact with the player, his representatives, or his entourage. Despite this, the player's camp insists that his desire is firm and that he hopes that Florentino Pérez's management will take action after the World Cup.
The newspaper L'Equipe claims that Olise himself has voiced his desire at the concentration in Boston, where his Bayern teammate Dayot Upamecano is also present, who is reportedly pressuring him not to make that decision.
For Madrid fans, Olise's potential arrival would represent a top-level reinforcement for the right wing, a position where Real Madrid has sought alternatives following the departure of players like Marco Asensio. The French winger, who developed at Reading and Crystal Palace, has stood out for his speed, dribbling, and goal-scoring ability in the Bundesliga.
What will happen after the World Cup?
According to reports, once the World Cup concludes, movements could start to take place. Real Madrid, which has prioritised young signings with potential in recent years, sees Olise as an ideal profile for their sports project. However, Bayern's firmness and the high financial amount complicate the operation.
For now, the player remains focused with the French national team, concentrating on the World Cup. But the rumour is already established in the capital. The coming days will be crucial to see if Olise's desire becomes a reality or if Bayern manages to retain their star.
