The Pozuelo de Alarcón Town Hall has announced the bullfighting programme for the patron saint festivities, which includes renowned bullfighters and novices. The events will take place at the municipal bullring during the month of September.
The Pozuelo de Alarcón Council has made public the bullfighting poster that will entertain the local patron saint festivities, an event that brings together fans and residents each year. The programme, which will take place at the city’s bullring, will feature several bullfights and novice fights between September 8 and 11.
Among the confirmed names are bullfighting figures such as Julián López 'El Juli', Manuel Escribano, and local novice Alejandro Peñaranda, who will perform as the sole matador in one of the novice fights. The managing company of the venue, Tauroemocion, has been responsible for creating a cycle that aims to combine experience and new talent.
The first bullfight, scheduled for Friday, September 8, will see El Juli and Manuel Escribano face off against bulls from the Jandilla breeding farm. The following day, Saturday 9, there will be a novice fight with picadors in which Alejandro Peñaranda will handle livestock from the Fuente Ymbro brand. On Sunday 10, a mixed bullfight will take place featuring the rejoneadores Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza and Andy Cartagena, along with matador Antonio Ferrera, with bulls from various breeding farms. The closing day, Monday 11, is reserved for a novice fight without picadors featuring promising newcomers.
The Town Hall has highlighted that ticket prices will range from 15 to 60 euros, and they can be purchased both at the bullring box office and on the municipal website. Additionally, a 20% discount has been established for residents of Pozuelo de Alarcón who buy their tickets before September 1.
The Department of Festivities, led by María Jesús López, has emphasized that the bullfighting programme is one of the pillars of the patron saint festivities, which this year will also include concerts, children's activities, and popular dances. "We want all residents to enjoy a few days of community and tradition," the councillor stated.
Safety during the bullfighting events will be ensured by a special deployment of the Local Police and health services. The Town Hall reminds that the capacity of the bullring is limited and recommends purchasing tickets in advance.
The patron saint festivities of Pozuelo de Alarcón, in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, will be celebrated from September 8 to 12. The complete programme can be consulted on the Council's website.
