Six fire crews have intervened in a fire that broke out in a home in Pozuelo de Alarcón, on the Húmera road. The fire, which affected a room and reached the facade, ended without injuries.

The firefighters from the Community of Madrid had to work hard on Thursday afternoon to extinguish a fire in a home at Pozuelo de Alarcón, at number 96 on the Húmera road. The alert came in after 18:30, and within minutes, six crews arrived at the scene, where flames were already visible from the facade.

The flames were visible outside when the teams arrived

According to Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid, when the emergency services reached the property, the fire and smoke had already spread outside through the facade. The firefighters quickly accessed the interior and located the source in one of the rooms. Within minutes, they controlled the flames and proceeded to completely extinguish the fire, afterwards checking the entire house to rule out any hot spots.

Once the fire was extinguished, the teams carried out ventilation of the flat to eliminate the accumulated smoke and ensure there was no risk of re-ignition. The Municipal Police of Pozuelo de Alarcón, who also arrived at the scene, confined the neighbours to their homes as a precaution, warning that it was not advisable to use the stairwell due to the potential chimney effect.

No injuries despite the severity of the incident

Despite the fire being severe and reaching the facade, there have been no reported injuries or people affected by smoke inhalation, according to sources from the operation. The deployment also included personnel from the Emergency Service of the Pozuelo de Alarcón City Council and agents from the Municipal Police, who coordinated safety and assistance tasks for the residents.

So far, the causes of the fire have not been reported nor the exact extent of the material damage caused to the home. Firefighters continue to work in the area to secure the property and determine the origin of the fire.

The local residents, who watched the operation from the street, breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that there were no victims. The quick intervention of the firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other neighbouring homes, a real risk given that the fire had already breached the facade. The Municipal Police have reminded the importance of keeping evacuation routes clear and checking electrical installations to prevent such incidents.

The incident, which mobilised a significant emergency response, was resolved without major personal consequences, although the material damage to the affected home could be significant. It is expected that in the coming hours, technicians will be able to access the property to assess the state of the structure and carry out the necessary repairs.
