Winger Pol Prats, who played 33 matches last season for Rayo Majadahonda, is the eighth signing of Recreativo de Huelva. The Huelva club also announced the departure of Mario Da Costa.

The Rayo Majadahonda has lost one of its attacking pieces just days after securing promotion to Primera Federación. Winger Pol Prats leaves the Majadahonda team to sign as a new player for Recreativo de Huelva, which has presented him as its eighth reinforcement for the upcoming season.

Prats, 26 years old and from Tortosa (Tarragona), arrives at the Decano after playing 33 matches last season in Group I of Segunda Federación, where he scored two goals and provided five assists. The winger has nearly 120 matches in the category, making him a player with proven experience for the albiazul project.

A reinforcement with a past in Segunda División

The new player for Recreativo has a background that goes beyond Segunda Federación. Prats made his debut in Segunda División with Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the 2018/19 season, a milestone in his career that demonstrates his ability to compete in higher categories. At Rayo Majadahonda, where he played last season, he was a key piece in the coach's scheme, although the club was unable to retain him after the promotion.

For Recreativo, which competes in Segunda Federación, Prats' arrival represents a quality boost in the offensive area. The winger can play on both flanks and is known for his speed and ability to take on defenders, qualities that Huelva fans hope to see at the Nuevo Colombino starting in September.

Departure of Mario Da Costa and end of uncertainty

The signing of Pol Prats has not been the only move by Recreativo in recent hours. The club has also announced the departure of Mario Da Costa, the Malaga forward who was the team's second top scorer last season with five goals in 30 matches. His departure ends a controversy that had lasted for several days after the player failed to show up for the first day of summer training.

The club maintained that Da Costa no longer had a contractual link, while the player claimed otherwise through his social media. Ultimately, both parties reached an agreement to terminate the contract. In a letter posted on his profiles, Da Costa bid farewell to Recreativo and the fans:

“I regret that we could not achieve the dream we all had; we tried our best, but it was not possible. It has been a true pleasure to enjoy the Nuevo Colombino from within as your player and also in such an incredible city as Huelva. I have been very happy by your side.”
The forward wished “the best for the future” to the club and expressed his belief that “joys that they truly deserve will come soon”.

With Da Costa's departure and Prats' arrival, Recreativo is shaping a squad that aims to compete for promotion to Primera Federación. The competition will start on September 6, and the Huelva team already has eight new faces to tackle the challenge.

For the followers of Rayo Majadahonda, Prats' departure represents a significant loss, although the club is already working to strengthen the squad for its debut in the new category. The Majadahonda team, which achieved promotion last May, now faces the challenge of establishing itself in Primera Federación with a renewed team.
